Responsibilities

Mechanical interns at Wyatt Technology are very helpful resource in various R&D projects. Projects that well suits the intern’s capability include maintenance of CAD library, design, update, and document current engineering/manufacturing tooling, and conduct mechanical engineering related testing tasks. Previous experience with ME interns at Wyatt has proved that they are imperative resources in completing small but important R&D projects and updating tooling.

  • Maintain CAD library of Wyatt Mechanical Engineering designs
  • Design, update, and document tooling for production, engineering, and quality department.
  • Assist Wyatt engineers to conduct Mechanical Engineering related tests
  • Build and test prototypes with 3D printing parts
  • Following Wyatt quality system and document designs

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering degree-seeking program at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate level.
  • Knowledge of basic opto-mechanics designs and thermal systems, e.g., lens mount.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and debugging hardware problems.
  • Experience in engineering lab equipment (digital multi meters, oscilloscopes, etc.)
  • Experience in Autodesk inventor or similar CAD software is required.
  • Hands-on skills in machine shop or 3D printer are preferred.
  • Experience in script programing language, e.g., python, is preferred.

The pay rate for this internship is $21-$25 per hour.
