Valleyfair is looking for applicants for Group Sales Assistants to join our team. Ideal applicants should have professional communication skills and like to work in a fun and fast-paced environment. This seasonal position will work directly with the Group Sales Department on the booking and execution of the Corporate, Youth and Small Group catered and non-catered events. This includes working as a liaison with both internal and external partners related to Group Sales business. 

This position is a perfect complement to any event planning, sales, marketing, or business interest. The experience will encompass a wide range of business tasks including sales outreach, event execution, marketing and communications. 

You will gain valuable knowledge and experience with both inbound and outbound sales and marketing efforts to a diverse clientele base as well as exposure to a variety of sales and marketing tactics to drive Valleyfair’s attendance, ticket revenue, and group events. 

How You'll Make A Difference:

  • Assists Sales Team in planning and executing events while supporting sales initiatives. This includes planning and implementing arrangements for events, the creation and dissemination of paperwork for clients, being a liaison between the client and catering team during the event and evaluating events upon completion.
  • Works directly with the Account Executives and clients on the booking of business, inputs reservations into ticketing systems, processes payments, and assists with sales of Youth catering, meal vouchers, drink wristbands and other add-ons as appropriate.
  • Assists with planning, coordination and on-site execution for special interest group events and youth programs
  • Assists Sales Team in initiating marketing efforts, lead generation, mailings, special projects and general office operations.
  • Provides outstanding guest service to clients and guests both on the phones and while in the park.

We're Looking For:

  • Working toward an associate or bachelor's degree in Sales, Events, Marketing, Hospitality, Communications, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Experience in event planning and execution. Experience can include internships and extracurricular activities/events.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.Experience working phones is ideal.
  • Meets scheduling availability requirements, including nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Confident and proficient in computer skills and basic computer programs: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Finds success working both collaboratively and independently.
  • Utilize problem-solving skills, including having the ability to remain patient, poised, and alert to cope with challenging/unique situations.
  • Take initiative and maintain the company’s reputation and dedication to safety, service, courtesy, cleanliness, and integrity.
  • Adheres to Cedar Fair’s Rules of Conduct including specific costuming and grooming standards as outlined in Employee Guidelines and other park/division specific policies and procedures.
  • Ability to pass a background check, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
