FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The successful candidate will be expected to: teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses using multiple modalities (online and hybrid) in multiple areas of Early Childhood education and bilingual education; mentor early childhood candidates and over time coordinate one of the Early Childhood teacher education programs in the department; supervise teacher candidates in schools, participate in recruitment and advisement of undergraduate and graduate teacher education candidates; and provide service to the department, school, and college. The successful candidate should have an active research agenda in an area related to the position. The teaching load is 18 hours per academic year.

The Lehman College campus is located in Bronx, New York and is a senior college within the City University of New York (CUNY) system. Lehman is a four-year public college in the Bronx and is recognized as a Hispanic Serving Institution.

The School of Education prepares educators, school leaders, and school counselors, who go on to careers in both public and private institutions. Programs are offered in a variety of specializations including Advanced and Dual Certificates in Special Education and Bilingual Education, School Building Leadership, Literacy, and TESOL.

The Department of Early Childhood and Childhood Education houses a variety of outstanding and nationally accredited graduate degree programs, with each culminating in a master’s degree or an advanced certificate, and most leading to New York State Certification. The department maintains strong relationships with regional schools through a Professional Development network.

Our faculty are committed to excellence in scholarship and teaching and are recognized for their work with Bronx and urban schools, districts, nonprofits and other community organizations, and strive to provide transformational learning experiences for our graduate students. They are dedicated to anti-racist practices and uplifting the community. They are experienced in meeting the needs of adult learners and are dedicated to mentoring, motivating, and supporting our graduate students through consistent advisement, engaging instruction, continuous program improvement, and career placement.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

COMPENSATION

$90,375 -$93,134
