Why is this role important?

As the Technical Architect of Audience data, you will play an important role in the Audience Data and Privacy team to help design, shape and execute our visions on audience signals for the CBC Digital Strategy & Products department. Time to market, happy users, reliable, performant and resilient products are some of the reasons why we are looking for your help in building our architecture practice. You will be managing integration and storage of audience signals, and driving technical decisions to do with customer data platforms. We will bring out the explorer, challenger and trail blazer in you, but we are also grounded in sustainable, extensible and holistic approaches.

Technical architects are accountable for technical decisions for the products and services provided by the team. You will be asked to speak for the platform, system or technical components. You are expected to be the subject matter expert and will be consulted for your deep knowledge and expertise. You will also be advising on complex technical and architectural issues that require detailed analysis and thoughtful considerations on both functional and non-functional requirements. You also help guide and support a team of 3-5 developers.

How you will make an impact:

You are an experienced technical leader looking to apply and build upon your skills in: 

  • Design, architecture and solutions of the product, system or technical component the team is responsible for. Being accountable for all technical aspects: functional integrity, scalability, resilience, stability and operational excellence.
  • Bring to light architectural issues that require broader consultation and review. Champion best practices in architecture and design. Bring better understanding and drive collaboration on technical issues for the product or solutions you are working on.
  • Guiding implementation and continuous evolution of the product. Helping to maintain quality, availability and performance standards by designing and implementing corresponding metrics / measurements. Ensure features adhere to regulatory, governance and certification requirements defined by the industry and governing bodies.
  • Helping in diagnosing and resolving technical issues, including system tuning, optimization. Developing reusable technical frameworks or assets and building a legacy of technical capabilities for the team. 
  • Coordinating and supporting development activities like estimation, coding, testing, debugging and bug fixes.
  • Working with the development teams, optimize the development process and ensure operational excellence.
  • Lead design and implementation for various audience data initiatives including support for SaS customer data platform (CDP), consent management platform (CMP), data management platform (DMP), customer relationship management (CRM), and other segmentation and activation products.
  • Help build robust and scalable solution for integration and distribution of the data.

What you bring to our team:

  • Three or more years of experience in a senior development role. Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership for medium to large scale systems or implementations.
  • Experienced in designing and delivering complex software solutions that are performant, scalable and resilient.
  • Proven ability to develop in depth knowledge on integrated systems and technical components. Well versed in architectural principles and key concepts. track record of promoting good architectural design and development practices.
  • Possess a degree (BA, BSc) or diploma in a Software Development, Science or Engineering related discipline, delivered by a recognized learning institution.
  • Experienced in data management: ingestion, integration, governance, modeling, storage. Technical expertise in service architecture and other data integration patterns, API and data query technologies.
  • Solid understanding of data architecture and data management principles (e.g. ACID).
  • Familiarity in databases and their usages (e.g. NoSql vs. Relational) and cloud-based services such as those provided by Azure, GCP and Amazon.
  • Familiar with architecture and integration patterns for high throughput data transfer.
  • Knowledge in CDP, DMP, CMP, CRM, and general understanding of use of audience behavioral signals. 
  • Help solve technical issues, develop prototypes and proof of concepts, demonstrate your ideas through working code.
