Job Summary & Responsibilities

The Lead Quality Test Engineer tests and repairs electronics, designs test fixtures and tools, and applies diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to their job.

The Lead Quality Test Engineer works cross-functionally with other engineers on complex root cause analyses, as well as to elevate possible issues found in the field. Additionally, they work closely with internal customers to present technical information to non-technical customers, as well as to gather complaint details as needed for the investigation of the returned product.

  • Manage and maintain the returned product investigation lab.
  • Analyze returned products to confirm reported complaints, identify failure modes and determine root causes.
  • Adapt and refine test procedures to properly address customer complaints.
  • Design and develop test equipment and test specifications.
  • Differentiate between hardware and software failures.
  • Perform board level circuit analysis.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on complaint investigations.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the quality systems and processes.
  • Write and maintain SOPs, WI’s, audit reports and other documentation as required.
  • Identify, generate, and publish metrics and reports related to quality issues.
  • Be available as a knowledge resource/ subject matter expert (SME) to other team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or equivalent years of relevant working experience may be substituted for the education requirement.
  • 5+ years of working test engineering experience, preferably in the medical device industry.
  • Experience with medical device complaint handling or in another heavily regulated industry desired.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Extensive experience with analog and digital circuits.
  • Ability to design test fixtures, including the design of the hardware, software and firmware when needed.
  • Experience using electronic test equipment (Digital Storage Oscilloscope, Power supply, frequency Generator, etc.)
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, datasheets, and schematics.
  • Ability to create design documents.
  • Ability to create device investigation procedures.
  • Evaluate/investigate and document investigation results for returned devices from clinical studies and commercial complaints.
  • Proficient with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the Electronic Engineering field
  • Must have good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills along with good presentation and technical writing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional team and with all levels of the organizations.
  • Can work independently in a team environment.
  • Takes initiative and proactively seeks quality solutions through continuous improvement.
  • Willingness and capability to handle multiple projects and responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Target Pay Range

Base range $124,519 - $171,214 plus bonus variable based on revenue generation. The final starting salary offer to the successful candidate will be determined by evaluating several factors, such as education, experience, knowledge, skills, internal equity, alignment with market data, and geography. *Nevro is a multi-state employer, so the target pay range may increase or decrease depending on the city/state.
