Overview

This role requires a unique set of skills and capabilities, associating strong data modelling and technical skills, with functional finance business knowledge. As Corporate Global Functions (CGF) IT team grows and evolves to partner with and support the Finance of the Future program, we need to ensure we bring & keep this type of talent.

The role is responsible for translating the business requirements for the data design and technical development of the SPOT (Single Point Of Truth) data repository for Total PEP (All International Sectors + Domestic Sectors), partnering with multiple IT delivery teams data engineers to implement, enhance and sustain a portfolio of solutions.

As the senior global finance solutions data analyst, this role will be responsible for key project deliverables, and will become the subject matter expert (SME) to the junior analysts in the team supporting them to complete their own deliverables. As the senior analyst & SME this role will also be responsible for developing the capability of the junior analysts such that they can grow into senior analysts. This role will support the recruitment of new junior analysts into the team when needed.

Work is delivered via agile methodologies (typically using the Scaled Agile ‘SAFe’ framework) and as such the role will be responsible for taking the customers requested features and working with them to define the overall functional and technical user stories each Program Increment (6 to 8 2-week iterations). This role will work with the technical delivery teams to clarify the scope of technical deliverables, and will be responsible for the scope of functional deliverables.

This role is critical for the Digital Planning transformation will work across multiple workstreams such as, but not limited to:

1. Cockpit – Finance Performance Dashboards

2. Predictive Analysis

3. Post-Mosaic SPOT – global financial performance data lake

Scope and accountabilities:

As SPOT expands, the scope of the role includes the functional & data design of following:

1. SPOT 2.0 – integration of Mosaic data beyond Europe (TM1, DAPLR, etc.)

2. SPOT 2.0 – integration of new business sectors into SPOT 2.0 design, including understanding and managing any variances to the existing design, and working to align all sectors to the same standard data model where possible

3. SPOT AI – integration of AI Forecasting into SPOT 1.0/2.0

4. Migration from Teradata to Azure cloud based architecture

On top of that, part of the job is to ensure we:

1. Uplift the capability of the team through mentoring and coaching the junior team members with the objective that they all should be able to grow into this senior role in the future

2. Lift & shift existing designs (i.e. Europe Mosaic SPOT 2.0) to avoid duplication

3. Support design & development of new capabilities from scratch (as and when needed)

4. Influence the design to create a best-in-class end-to-end data lake

SPOT is the backbone behind Cockpit which is a key pillar of the global digital reporting transformation program, the aim of which is to fundamentally evolve our planning and reporting capabilities such that: all BUs are on a single standardized reporting platform, enabling real-time, decision support, creating efficiency by eliminating Excel, PPT and PDF business reviews/reporting and delivering a user-friendly, agile performance management tool.

This role holds full responsibility of the IT functional design and data architecture of the Finance SPOT development. The role will be actively engaged with the Global SPOT Finance (FP&A) team and Global D&A/S&T team to drive significant enhancements in the end to end flow, keeping manager informed, but driving the direction and resolution.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain SPOT solution design & data architecture:

  • Ensure SPOT solution design & data model is up to date with latest business requirements
  • Lead the delivery of current technical roadmap that can support the predicted growth in data volumes
  • Lead the team of functional/data analysts to get from current Teradata platform to a cloud based platform

Translate and communicate business requirements across all IT delivery teams and/or partners:

  • Collaborate closely with SPOT FP&A teams to ensure business requirements from Global Planning and Sector teams are well-understood and translated into the SPOT solution design (functional & data model)
  • Collaborate with Global D&A/S&T on data architecture
  • Prioritize and lead implementation of changes and developments

Qualifications

The Global SPOT Snr Finance Solutions Data Analyst requires a unique skill set:

  • Love for data and problem solving demanding sharp analytical skills to handle/evaluate large amount of data (strong attention to details) - experience / appetitive in the leverage/exploitation/development of systems
  • Good communicator and a good people person given the need to collaborate effectively across teams and people of diverse backgrounds
  • Pioneer and innovative mindset required as we are shaping the future of data use within PepsiCo – comfortable with the uncomfortable
  • Minimum 5 years prior experience with data warehouse development, data modelling & data transformation. Strong analytical skills – demonstrated ability to interpret business requirements into performant business solutions
  • Knowledge of AI modeling, database structure/management principles and applications
  • Minimum of 2 years experience delivering finance solutions, with a solid knowledge of FP&A processes and terminology
  • Minimum 1 years prior experience of implementing solutions in Azure, and specifically Azure data solution design
  • Minimum 1 years experience delivering Azure based solutions within the PepsiCo Azure delivery model
  • Ability to grow and coach junior team members
  • Working within an Agile program and project
  • Ability to operate autonomously and proactively, managing multiple deliverables at a single time in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
  • Work remotely with interactions with multiple Sectors, Teams throughout the globe
  • Role will face a number of issues that require evaluative thinking, where depth of experience will be a key factor
  • Ability to operate collaboratively across multiple stakeholder groups / boundaries
  • Tactical/functional/system decision making without day-to-day reference to Manager. Able to work autonomously

Responsibilities (Secondary Language)

  • Deep understanding of both the Finance FP&A processes & data, and the IT/D&A/S&T technology platforms is critical. This role needs to be able to operate comfortably in complex technology discussions, and in complex finance process discussions.
  • Deep understanding of databases, data structure, data transformation & data flows.
  • Good understanding of the following technologies, and specifically how to deliver using these technologies within PepsiCo: Teradata, Alteryx, Azure Data Lake, Tableau & Power BI
  • Ability to navigate complex and varied processes across systems, data flows and their implication to SPOT, dashboard performance. Understand connections and ways to simplify.
