Position Overview

Are you looking for a summer internship with robots and LLMs? Join the Autodesk Robotics Lab!

Large Language Models (LLMs) continue to show promise in robotics and could pave the way for autonomous digital fabrication systems. As a 2024 Intern at Autodesk Research, you’ll work towards building advanced robotics software, capabilities, and applications. You'll explore how multi-modal LLMs can be used to automate the process of programming robots for assembly tasks, generalize examples for new designs, and make robotics accessible to Autodesk customers. You'll work with real-world robots on-site at the Autodesk Technology Center in San Francisco.

The Autodesk Robotics Lab is an interdisciplinary team of researchers, engineers, and designers dedicated to robotics research in areas like ML, perception, and digital fabrication and to advancing robotic applications in Manufacturing, Construction, and Entertainment. We are active in the larger research community and contribute to top-tier conferences such as ICRA, CORL, and RobArch.

Responsibilities

  • Use LLMs to program robots for adaptive assembly of high-mix designs
  • Explore how multi-modal systems, fine-tuning, feedback loops, multi-agent systems, and new UX for LLMs can improve the CAD-to-Robot workflow for high-mix designs
  • Develop software prototypes exploring LLM-driven robotic assembly
  • Demonstrate your work in both simulated and real-world work cells
  • Discuss your work with other researchers in the Robotics Lab and present it to the larger community and to leadership within Autodesk Research
  • Read papers and perform literature reviews. Conduct technology research by evaluating existing algorithms and software platforms. Co-publish with Autodesk Robotics and AI Lab collaborators

Minimum Qualifications

  • Full-time student pursuing an BS or MS in Robotics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Design, Architecture, or affiliated discipline in an accredited program with at least one academic term to complete post-internship
  • Experience with LLMs for robotic applications development and robotic simulation software
  • Excellent programming and software development skills in Python
  • Experience with research publications and real-world robotic prototypes
