Proposal Writer (Remote)

As a Proposal Writer in KBR’s Defense Systems Engineering (DSE) Business Unit (BU), you will thrive in an environment where you are responsible for the coordination, development and execution of proposal content in a high-paced environment. You will not only work for a great company, but you will also work within a team of teams of business development and operations professionals including capture managers, business development analysts, proposal managers, proposal coordinators, technical subject matter experts (SMEs), and other team members that support selling efforts consistent with the Company's strategic plan and business goals. You will report to the Director and Deputy Director of DSE Proposal Operations. We take pride in our ability to make a significant impact within our organization, and we're looking for individuals who are eager to contribute and grow with us.

This is a REMOTE/Work from Home position. Occasional travel may be required.

As a Proposal Writer, you will: 

  • Play a pivotal role in crafting compelling narratives that showcase our company's capabilities, expertise, and successes.
  • Write, edit, and produce persuasive strategic content for proposals, from large-scale to small task orders including the development of White Papers and RFI responses.
  • Identify and gather relevant information sources to enrich proposal content, including conducting interviews and research as needed.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, including Subject Matter Experts, to capture concepts, maintain messaging consistency, and ensure alignment with our corporate strategy.
  • Proofread and edit your own work and the work of others, ensuring it aligns with in-house and RFP requirements.
  • Coordinate multiple simultaneous proposals, create outlines and storyboards to guide content development, and manage proposal plans.
  • We are looking for someone with exceptional persuasive writing skills, with the ability to tell a clear and compelling story. You must be detail-oriented, with excellent time management skills to thrive in a deadline-driven environment. Additionally, strong interpersonal skills, ability to build rapport, and work effectively in a team will be key to success. It is important that you are flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities and occasional overtime requirements (including over weekends and holidays, potentially on short notice). This position requires a commitment to KBR's mission and values.

Education/Experience Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS), preferably in English, Journalism, or other related field, plus a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; additional (4-6) years related professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Prior experience with government contract proposal writing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with DoD government contract proposal writing.
  • Knowledge of federal proposal best practices, industry standards, and federal procurement regulations, including FAR and DFARS.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word as well as Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong leadership skills to ensure all team members meet established deadlines.
  • Project management skills including resource planning, scheduling, task delegation, and ability to work multiple federal proposals simultaneously.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Track-record of success in developing winning, compliant, compelling proposals.
  • Experience working with capture teams to facilitate the development of win themes, solutions, discriminators, and competitive analyses.
  • Supporting the development of oral presentations or demonstrations is a plus.
  • Prior experience working in remote teams.
