Job Description

Calling all rising sophomore, junior, and senior undergraduate students! We are currently seeking a superstar Database Engineering Intern to join the TechStyleOS team for Summer 2024.

How Do You Fit In?

TechStyleOS is looking for a forward-thinking, passionate Database Engineering Intern to play a vital role in our Enterprise data services team. The ideal candidate will work on Transactional SQL server data in our 24/7 throughput environment to assist in the development of data workflow applications. The Database Engineer Intern will work closely with the Enterprise Data Services team to support prototyping a cloud product feed project that will enhance our current ElasticSearch document DB product refreshes. In this project, we will partner closely with API and application development teams.

At TechStyle you can expect to use SQL and ElasticSearch every day. While these are our defaults, you will have the flexibility to use tools that allow you to best fulfill your role. Additionally, we strongly believe in the need for ongoing education and will encourage you to explore new technologies and modeling methods regularly.

What you will do:

  • Develop queries, views, triggers, and other database objects to support internally hosted applications.
  • Develop and implement stored procedures and functions using TSQL.
  • Support developing product feed to cloud databases (like ElasticSearch or DynamoDB) that can be consumed by API and applications.
  • Assist in database purge project to remove historical and non-brand related data from our Databases.
  • Assist in the development of database integration workflows.
  • Collaborate with other database personnel across our organization to share best practices, learn new techniques, and champion an organizational culture where data is central to decision-making.

Who You Are:

You’re the ideal candidate if you’re detail-oriented, incredibly curious, technically capable, and intrinsically motivated to become an expert in our media systems. As much as you learned in school, you’ve probably learned even more during your late-night hacking sessions. You love spending time with people and enjoy translating complex concepts and methodologies into easily understood stories.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Comfortable working with SQL and T-SQL programing.
  • Academic experience with JSON data structures.
  • Comfortable working with ElasticSearch.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex topics to a non-technical audience.

Nice to have:

  • knowledge of Kafka K-SQL queries.
  • Knowledge of AWS database offerings.

The Intern Gig: We are looking for enthusiastic students with ambition to go far. Our full-time paid internship program will give you a chance to gain in-depth knowledge of what it is like to be a part of our fast-paced and innovative company. Our interns have the unique opportunity to gain real work experience, while participating in skill-building workshops and interactive social activities throughout the duration of the internship assignment.

Our summer internship program will be in our El Segundo, CA headquarters and will run for 10 weeks from June 10th-August 16th. We operate on a hybrid work schedule where employees must be willing and able to work in-office Tuesday-Thursday each week, with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. We will not be considering remote or non-local applicants at this time.

The hourly range for this position is $18.00-$22.00. The hourly rate offered will be dependent on factors including the scope and complexity of the role, candidate’s related work experience, subject matter expertise, and work location.

  • YOU MUST BE A RISING SOPHOMORE, JUNIOR, OR SENIOR (graduating 2025-2027) UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT ENROLLED AT AN ACCREDITED UNIVERSITY TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS INTERNSHIP**
