Reporting to the VP of Computational Biology, the Director, Computational Biology will interact closely with the core R&D team and be responsible for developing and implementing computational models and algorithms to analyze complex biological data sets and support assay development and collaborations with Key Opinion Leaders in academia and industry. The successful candidate is a technical leader who will manage an existing team of people but will also be a hands-on contributor.

Essential Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Planning, together with lab scientists, studies to be conducted in collaboration with industry and academic partners that will showcase the unique value of our technology.
  • Supporting the work of the assay development team by leading the analysis of datasets generated as part of ongoing technology development and protocol optimization.
  • Supporting the development of analytical pipelines for the analysis of multi-omic datasets generated by our technology.
  • Coordinating and directing the work of multiple PhD-level computational scientists that are contributing to the work described above.
  • Mentoring team members and contributing to their technical and career growth.
  • Keeping up to date with the scientific literature to make sure we continuously revise and improve our analytical approaches.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in quantitative field (bioinformatics, biology, computational/systems biology, physics, mathematics) with 12 years of experience; or equivalent experience and education.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience leading a senior team of scientists and computational biologists.
  • Strong background in molecular biology, cellular biology, genetics and/or biochemistry, with a solid understanding of biological principles and experimental techniques.
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics and computational biology, including R and Python.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and understanding of single-cell biology.
  • Experience with Nextflow.

We provide competitive total compensation packages, including base pay, benefits, and equity. The estimated base salary range for this position is $165,000 - $265,000/year. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
