LMI is seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to be part of a team that is delivering comprehensive software and hardware testing support for the products developed within the USPS Innovation Lab. All SDET candidates must have strong communication skills, a passion for testing, and a desire to assist transitioning to an evolving suite of test-driven frameworks on high-profile projects. This position will be onsite at either the USPS Merrifield location in Virginia or the L’Enfant Plaza location in D.C.

Responsibilities

The candidate will collaborate with USPS Lab personnel to create and implement a tailored testing strategy that aligns with the Lab’s objectives and goals. The strategy will outline the team’s overall approach to testing software and hardware, describing the testing objectives, the scope of testing, the types of testing to be performed, test execution methodology, analysis & reporting, and the resources required.

  • Create a tailored test strategy aligned with the USPS Innovation Lab’s objectives and goals.
  • Design and develop test cases for each supported product as directed.
  • Work with USPS Lab personnel to automate the testing processes where automation can improve efficiency.
  • Actively participate in agile software development activities as needed, including sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

Qualifications

MINIMUM

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of professional experience with an emphasis on software test automation including test framework design, development, and maintenance/support.
  • Experience designing a test strategy to ensure the delivery of high-quality software and hardware solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and executing test cases.
  • Proficiency with the following:
  • C#, .Net, Python, Java or other programming language
  • Visual Studio
  • Relational Databases (e.g., MS SQL)
  • Test Design Patterns
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of an agile development team.
  • Ability to obtain a USPS security clearance.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

  • Experience testing various types of software, such as web and native mobile applications desired.
  • Experience with Selenium Web Automation testing, Python, and Gherkin is preferred.
  • Development experience within an agile environment.
  • Using formal ticketing applications such as Atlassian Jira or Bugzilla.
  • Creating tests using the Gherkin syntax.
  • Experience working in a consultant / client environment.
  • Experience working with Selenium Web
  • Experience working in a consultant/client environment is desired.
