About this role

Faire is seeking an Assistant Controller who will lead Faire’s core accounting functions, collaborating closely with the Controller as a key thought partner. This pivotal role will oversee monthly close processes, PCAOB US Audits, reporting and accounting policies. This role requires deep technical expertise and the ability to solve complex problems across diverse subject areas. Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will collaborate extensively with cross-functional partners, including the VP of Finance and CFO. The Assistant Controller should be efficient in working in a fast-growing start-up environment, strategic but hands-on, and help contribute to building a world-class accounting team.

What you’ll do 

  • Oversee core general ledger, payroll, technical, and platform teams
  • Manage vital relationships with external auditors, technical accounting advisory, and strategic partners
  • Lead month-end close and PCAOB financial audits
  • Provide guidance and prepare technical accounting memos on critical positions
  • Assist in implementing SOX controls and procedures, gearing towards an IPO
  • Partner with Finance on planning, management reporting, and treasury management
  • End to end management of complex cross functional projects
  • Remove obstacles for team leads and enhance processes and efficiencies
  • Foster opportunities for the development and advancement of team members in order to enhance retention

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in senior accounting leadership roles, spanning both public companies and late-stage startups
  • CPA with a deep understanding of US GAAP and public company reporting requirements
  • Experience working at a hyper-growth startup; preferably a marketplace 
  • Have dealt with complex revenue reconciliations
  • Experience with NetSuite, Zip, and Workiva
  • Strong ability to navigate through challenges, multiple tasks, take ownership, and deliver to commitment
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion
  • Ability to motivate and influence all levels of management

Salary Range

New York City*: the pay range for this role is $172,000 to $236,500 per year. 

This role will also be eligible for equity and benefits. Actual base pay will be determined based on permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, market demands, and primary work location. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
