Job Description

Telemundo Sacramento is currently looking for an individual with a comprehensive understanding of television news production, with an outstanding writing and verbal communications skills. Individual must also have knowledge of the various editing systems, and camera operation.

  • This individual will be responsible for shooting, writing, creating and editing original news stories; gather information for news stories using beat sources, contacts and leads. Contribute to building the daily rundown
  • Individual will also be responsible to assist in the production of the live broadcast.
  • Responsibilities also include keeping up to date on current events and news in our state.
  • Journalist will be expected to participate in community events and station activities from time to time as master of ceremonies and/or Host as requested by the station.
  • Must be able to work independently using a video camera for news gathering 
  • Report live from news locations
  • Representing channel in a professional manner
  • Manage general upkeep of assigned company equipment
  • Participation in station special events is required
  • Deliver news reports, including live reports, demonstrating energy, confidence, professional appearance and voice quality
  • Establish a community presence outside of the newscasts

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in Spanish market broadcast television
  • Be informed on news events locally and nationally
  • Develop and maintain a network of contacts providing access to exclusive stories
  • Assist producer in establishing sources, finding, and executing enterprise news investigations, building and maintaining strong list of story ideas
  • Ability to ad-lib and improvise effortlessly n various types of on-air situations
  • Must work well under pressure with an ability to meet deadlines
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required both written and verbal. 
  • A high level of skill and mastery of the Spanish language is essential.
  • Candidate must work effectively with others in a team-oriented environment
  • Independent problem solving & multi-tasking

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear or walk. The employee is frequently required to talk, walk and sit and use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand; reach with hands and arms and stop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 20lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
