DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Operations is responsible for leading the operation of multiple manufacturing plants. This position will oversee strategies, initiatives, and support of manufacturing operations globally; and lead the process for selection, acquisition, and maintenance of manufacturing technologies and systems. The Director of Operations interfaces with senior management and technology heads across the company; participates in determining overall manufacturing strategies and insures growth and innovation across all sites.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads manufacturing operational strategies by analyzing trends; preparing critical measurements; implementing production, productivity, quality, customer-service, safety, security, and health strategies; leading system improvements.
  • Determines manufacturing requirements by studying product requirements; obtaining engineering consultations; utilizing benchmarking standards; coordinating requirements with sales, engineering, procurement, logistics, transportation, and human resources departments.
  • Completes customer manufacturing requirements by developing manufacturing plans; planning and controlling materials resources; establishing manufacturing planning systems; establishing priorities; scheduling activities and team members; monitoring progress; revising schedules.
  • Maintains organization stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements; helping others comply.
  • Responsible for profit and loss activities throughout sites.
  • Responsible for incorporating diversity in all facets of the business.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy manufacturing environment by adhering to organization standards and policies, and to legal regulations; alerting others regarding potential concerns.
  • Contributes to manufacturing and organization success by welcoming related, different, and new requests; helping others accomplish job results.
  • All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree required (Management, Business, or Engineering) - Advanced Degree preferred; Master’s Degree in Business Management preferred (MBA)
  • Years of Experience: 8+ years in increasingly complex management positions with a minimum of 15 years’ experience in the automotive industry.

TRAVEL: 

  • Travel Required: Yes 50% or less

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Understanding of manufacturing assembly processes
  • Working knowledge of automated assembly systems including; mechanical design, standard build practices, controls systems, debug and tryout.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written
  • Must be able to demonstrate emotional intelligence at all times
  • Must demonstrate a dedication to integrated teamwork and management by consensus and proactive in finding win-win solutions.
  • Must be able to understand and teach lean manufacturing principles
  • Must be able tounderstand and teach workplace organization (5S)
  • Must be able to teach and display Leadership and organizational skills
  • Understanding of statistical applications to manufacturing processes
  • Computer literacy to include Windows applications, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to crteate an environment that fosters organizational resillency
  • Ability to lead with inquiry as well asadvocacy; engage as well as command
  • Ability to identify and solve wicked problems
  • Must be able to demonstrate commitment and prioritization skills
