GENERAL DUTIES

I.T. Senior Associates perform highly complex professional work in technology-related disciplines. While areas of specialization vary, typically I.T. Senior Associates perform a range of work in development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar functions depending on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include diagnosing, evaluating, overseeing and resolving highly complex projects. They have wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment and may serve in lead roles on complex programs or projects, and/or serve as a direct supervisor of a unit or group.

I.T. Senior Associates should demonstrate mastery of one or more technology-related disciplines, decision-making ability in situations related to those disciplines, and be able to serve as a resource in these areas. They may contribute to decisions on I.T. policies and technical standards.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

The Office of Computing and Information Services (CIS) at the City University of New York (CUNY) supports the IT and telecommunications needs of CUNY's 25 colleges. CIS supports enterprise IT and applications, develops new technologies that advance the University's core mission, builds, upgrades, and maintains the University's network, operates the University's Data Center and helpdesk, and develops disaster recovery plans for business continuity. Additionally. CIS maintains the CUNYfirst Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution that integrates student administration, financial management, and human resources operations across CUNY’s 25 colleges. CIS provides strategic and operational IT leadership with respect to the maintenance, enhancement, and expansion of the CUNY network spanning across all CUNY campuses.

Reporting to the PeopleSoft Finance Solutions Manager, the Admissions & Campus Solutions SIS Production Support Engineer will be a techno-functional application support specialist responsible for day-to-day application support. They will support Cash Management modules and may be required to support additional ones for Accounts Payable, Purchasing, and eProcurement. The incumbent will offer superior client support, promote, and ensure consistent performance of deployed services and in coordination with others, will support the application change control process. Additionally, they will collaborate with various IT teams to implement solutions, program modification, and process transactions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides day-to-day functional application support for PeopleSoft Financials applications.
  • Partners with Pillar Support Leads, Managers, and others to facilitate processes, projects, installations, and formulation of operating policies and procedures, especially in relation to CUNYfirst and the PeopleSoft Financials/SCM pillar.
  • Utilizes a thorough knowledge of the overall functioning of the PeopleSoft FSCM module and leads technical efforts; assists functional teams in troubleshooting reported FSCM issues.
  • Develops design documents based on business requirements.
  • Evaluates and analyzes user requests and requirements for new or modified programs.
  • Manages system administration and support activities focused on the PeopleSoft Financials portion of the CUNYfirst PeopleSoft implementation including testing, change control, monitoring utilization, and triaging support.
  • Studies existing installations to evaluate effectiveness and develops new approaches to improve production or specifications as required.
  • Supports users through unit, integration, system, and user testing.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves technical/functional issues, determines if technical requirements are met, develops action plans to correct deficiencies, and works with functional teams to test, diagnose and isolate the root cause of problems; coordinates further diagnoses and tests as necessary, recommending and implementing appropriate workarounds to complete functional/technical SCM service requests.
  • Performs special ad hoc requests, projects, initiatives, and other related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position as assigned.

NOTES:

  1. Until further notice, this is a hybrid position, eligible to work remotely and work on-site in the office.
  2. An appointment to this Competitive title/position in the Classified Civil Service Title Series will be made with a Provisional status. Employees in provisional status must pass a competitive civil service examination and be appointed from a civil service list to remain in the title/position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
  2. An equivalent of ten years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: ten years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus eight years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus six years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position
  3. Demonstrated English Language proficiency
  4. A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.

This title has three levels. In addition to the minimum qualifications above, To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred:

  • Extensive working experience related to the job duties listed above in PeopleSoft Financials/Supply Chain Management 9.2 in a lead role
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Cash Management and General Ledger modules is required; additional experience with other modules should include Accounts Payable, Purchasing, eProcurement, and Commitment Control
  • In-depth knowledge of bank account setup, bank statement import process, manual reconciliation, semi- manual reconciliation, auto-reconciliation, bank statement accounting, EFT Transfers, and other important functions of treasury and cash management
  • Experience in:
  • Problem triage and resolution as applied to IT applications
  • Production application change control practices and processes
  • Thorough knowledge of PeopleTools 8.5.x in the areas of SQR, PeopleCode, Application Engine, XML Publisher, SQL developer, and others
  • Basic understanding of WebLogic, Tuxedo, SFTP, etc., in a PeopleSoft-hosted environment
  • Strong communication skills to interface with technical staff, administrative users, business process owners, and other Information Resources managers
  • Exceptionally well-organized and able to effectively analyze and resolve complex problems while rendering sound resolutions and have the ability to articulate goals and manage multiple resources and priorities
  • Ability to work productively as an individual contributor and collaboratively as a team member in a fast- paced, time-sensitive, customer-responsive, and team-oriented environment

COMPENSATION

The salary is $109,560.
