POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

The Dominick P. Purpura Department of Neuroscience is looking for Research Technician B to contribute to our research program which deals with exploring the properties of electrical synapses.

We focuse on identifiable synaptic terminals in zebrafish, because of their experimental access constitute and ideal experimental model to investigate this form of synaptic transmission.

The technician will be running our small zebrafish facility and performing molecular biology/genotyping (low difficulty). In addition, they will be performing immunochemical experiments and imaging them with confocal microscopy (medium difficulty).

Responsibilities will include caring for research animals (zebrafish and goldfish), histology, molecular biology and ordering supplies.

  • Perform a moderate number of simple or moderate technical procedures which will require occasional guidance.
  • Occasionally be responsible for ordering routine supplies.
  • Rarely modify technical procedures, train and or guide other lab members.
  • Will require a limited understanding of scientific literature and the research goals and rationale.
  • Only occasionally analyze data and rarely interpret data. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors in a Related Science required or equivalent skills and experience required. 
  • 0-2 years experience required.
  • Organizational skills, detailed oriented, record keeping and initiative required.
