About the Position:

The tools and automation engineer role will be an integral part of a large team developing next generation software for Juniper’s core operating system. As a senior staff engineer you will be driving design, development and implementation of tools and automation to support the large scale engineering environment. This is a highly visible role with technical leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and implement tools and automation required to establish efficient and productive development environment.
  • Provide technical leadership and tools automation roadmap
  • Automate all aspects of managing and maintain distributed compute environment.
  • Mentor and lead junior engineers.
  • Be flexible and prepared to work closely with development teams and other stake holders. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10 years of relevant experience in tools development / SRE position.
  • Strong experience with Ansible or other configuration management tools.
  • Strong experience in UNIX environment.
  • Strong experience in performance monitoring and analysis.
  • Experience in grid or distributed computing.
  • Exposure to large scale software build, integration, and test environments.
  • Knowledge and experience with Continuous Integration and Delivery model.
  • Strong Python and Shell scripting experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven record of performance and ability to work independently as well as in a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Kubernetes, Docker
  • Experience with Git and other source code control systems.
  • Expertise managing private cloud infrastructure
  • Experience automating infrastructure deployment using Ansible
  • Experience with custom continuous monitoring systems for performance metrics (capacity, utilization, throughput, system health)
