Summary

Alarm.com is seeking a Senior Production Engineer to apply their strong technical knowledge and commitment to quality to help design, build, test and validate product assembly and system testing which ranges from stand-alone test stations to multi-station production lines. As part of a small, hardworking and accomplished team of experts, you will directly support our success and act as a key technical interface between the product development engineering teams and our manufacturing value-added partners. As a production engineer, you will lead the design of assembly jigs, testing fixtures and manufacturing processes, ensuring the manufactured products meet the design intent as well as working with various cross-functional teams jointly responsible for manufacturing, test and analysis to troubleshoot design/build problems throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electronic Engineering
  • 10+ years of hands-on production engineering experience in laying out and setting up production lines including product assembly and system testing from early production builds to mass production builds.
  • Proficient in designing test jigs and test fixtures for consumer and commercial electronic devices
  • Professional language proficiency in English and Mandarin Chinese
  • Ability for as needed pan-Asian and US travel

Duties to be Performed

  • Consult with the Program Managers to gather the complete assembly and testing requirements of the new products and to explore and research solutions to best support the expected results in manufacturability, production cost and manufacturing quality.
  • Support Product Managers and Product Development Engineering Teams to design assembly jigs, testing fixtures, and production setup for the required assembly/testing quality with optimized production cycle times.
  • Study and propose opportunities for DFM (manufacture), DFC (cost), DFT (testing), and DFA (automation) improvements for a given product.
  • Lead the effort to set up product assembly/testing environment, product assembly SOP, and system testing SOP for a given product and its corresponding production line.
  • Work with Test Engineers and Product Managers to review the entire production system and all production related documents to ensure that they are ready to be handed over to manufacturing partners.
  • Coordinate with Test Engineers and Quality Engineers to validate and to ensure the manufacturing environment and production setup across the entire production system at the manufacturing site are constructed according to the requirements and are ready for production.
  • Team up with Quality Engineers and manufacturing partners to analyze design/production failures and to continuously improve manufacturing quality including that of product assembly, test setup, and testing environment.
  • Perform manufacturing process simplification, optimization and standardization to achieve stable production lines with high quality yields.

Requirements for this Position

  • Proven records of understanding the assembly and testing of consumer and commercial electronic products.
  • Demonstrated understanding of all aspects of assembly and testing requirements for various electronic products especially camera products, wireless communications (including but not limited to WiFi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Z-Wave and NFC) products and gateway/bridge products.
  • Experienced in constructing professional quality assembly SOP and system test SOP.
  • Expertise in designing assembly jigs and testing fixtures for various consumer and commercial products.
  • Proficiency in various application software such as Excel and PowerPoint for effective communication on subject matters with various stakeholders.
  • Established engineering capabilities in debugging production and product failures with effective engineering fixes for resolving/improving related problems.
  • Good understanding of quality, reliability, and compliance requirements.
  • Professional written, verbal, and presentation skills in English and in Chinese with the ability to effectively communicate with the stakeholders.
