The Senior Designer, US is a critical member of the US marketing team who is responsible for generating ideas that push creative excellence and solve marketing challenges across national campaigns while providing creative support to all lines of business. This design leader must be passionate about design and love developing creative solutions that engage our audience and in turn create brand love. This role will provide the creative content required to deliver rich and holistic experiences across a variety of print and digital channels. Ideal candidate should be able to engage both the right and left brain to deliver compelling ideas grounded in a strategic mindsight that points to both the project brief and brand standards. The Senior Designer is expected to maintain a high standard of quality and carry out projects with excellent technical skill and attention to creative detail. As a highly critical member of the Creative Services team, this person must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously through execution and be able to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The Senior Designer will have the opportunity to contribute their creative ideas at a high volume and pace for a fast-growing, well-loved iconic brand.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Partners closely with the Brand, Creative, CRM and Digital teams to transform the brand creative vision and strategy into holistic and engaging campaign creative across all print and digital channels.
  • Possesses a drive for creative excellence and does not compromise on quality. Consistently delivers high standards and overcome obstacles to consistently deliver the best. 
  • Proficient in idea generation: Provides strong thinking and helps create innovative ideas. 
  • Demonstrates brand stewardship: understands the vision of the brand and develops creative to support and build it.
  • Stays updated on appropriate style guidelines and brand voice for consistency in messaging. 
  • Responsible for concepting, pitching and overseeing the development of strategic creative executions, including leading holistic national campaign approach, design and development.
  • Develops strategic in-restaurant concepts (POP) and leads creative through ideation to completion. 
  • Ability to successfully partner with and adapt agency lead campaign creative across all channels.
  • Excels at creative execution through creation of conceptual comps and final creative assets using the full Adobe Creative Suite, with a strong proficiency in InDesign, Illustrator, Motion graphics / After Effects a plus. 
  • Oversees the look and feel of food-related photography – with experience in planning and directing photoshoots 
  • Possesses a strong creative drive, and pushes towards new, innovative thinking and ideation with each creative opportunity: Expected to bring “something that wasn’t asked for” to each creative execution.
  • Keeps current on technology and marketing trends and applies learnings to creative executions.
  • Delivers outstanding problem-solving and design sensibilities across a diverse range of media and channels.
  • Embraces the love of process and of constant improvements. Will have opportunity to effect departments process & design standards and ultimately how the brand is represented to the consumer across various channels.
  • Attends creative meetings and reviews. Effectively presents creative materials to internal KKD members and outside agency teams.
  • Mentors and helps develop Junior Level Designers.

QUALITIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic/Digital Design, or other communication design-related field preferred
  • 10 years+ recent experience as a graphic/digital designer in a fast-pasted work environment
  • 10 years+ experience in graphic design and typography
  • 10 years+ experience using design programs: Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) proficiency in presentation programs: Keynote and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in motion graphics and After Effects and Premier a plus, but not required.
  • Print experience and expertise including: signage, POP, packaging and other printed materials 
  • Digital experience and expertise including: web, email, in app, social and digital display.
  • Conceptual and visual storytelling experience. 
  • Experience with branding and identity design.
  • Strong time management skills with the motivation to work as a team .
  • Be self-directed, organized and a master at managing multiple projects at once .
  • Take feedback constructively, defending ideas where appropriate and implementing solutions .
  • Good interpersonal skills to build working relationships .
  • A critical eye for detail. 
  • Desire to work collaboratively as part of a larger team in a fast-paced environment .
  • Not overwhelmed by balancing multiple requests against inflexible deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and in a high pressure environment.
