Role Overview:

This position manages the execution of Quality Assurance operational plans. May lead a team of primarily intermediate to experienced Quality Assurance professionals or a team of responsible for Quality Assurance for a smaller organization. Sets objectives and guides team on the achievement of short-term Quality Assurance goals. Manages the implementation of Quality Assurance plans and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Improve internal quality processes to enable a step change in quality to our customers and drive KPI improvements
  • Use tools to improve cost/spend, including productivity/efficiency in Business/Manufacturing processes
  • Facilitate events/activities/projects to deliver tailored value to our customers and positively affect quality KPIs such as ZHRs, Customer Escapes, SRR, Yield, and advanced quality implementation
  • Read across best practices from other facilities that will impact KPI improvements in the areas of zero hour returns, customer escapes, SRR and yield, among others
  • Drive the planning and execution of the advance quality toolsets and projects across the Vergennes Quality team
  • Act as a culture champion and change agent educating and influencing leaders on effective change management techniques
  • Coach and mentor teams to develop an understanding of and engagement with tools that empower them to become self-sufficient in deploying effective continuous quality improvement plans
  • Manages the collection and analysis of quality information from multiple sources for use in developing long-term quality strategy and programs
  • Manages production process analyses, ensuring quality standards are met and making recommendations for quality improvement
  • Develops and implements program quality plans and procedures
  • Navigate IT Systems (SAP, SharePoint, web-based content, etc.)
  • Lead special projects as needed

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Typically requires University Degree and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
  • Work schedule: This is an onsite position at our Vergennes, VT site
  • Polished, effective presentation skills with proven success translating complex data and concepts to create actionable stories for senior leadership consumption
  • Proven success driving tangible process improvements in both Business and Manufacturing Processes

  • Demonstrated skill and proven success in team leadership, facilitation & coaching skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Analytical, problem solving & mathematic skills
  • Working knowledge of shop practices, processes and procedures
  • Proven flexibility / adaptability in high stress, ambiguous environments
  • Proven ability to plan and prioritize
  • Working knowledge of new product / process technologies
  • Strong computer skills
  • Understanding of basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution
  • Proven success leading cross-functional teams within a complex and sometimes ambiguous matrix organization
  • Deep knowledge of quality principles and processes (such as MRB, Quality clinics, PFMEA, MPR, SPC, and AS9145)
  • Experience working across multiple Collins sites and businesses to leverage best practices and incorporate lessons learned
  • Demonstrated ability to use “out of the box” thinking to drive robust solutions

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
