As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will be part of the Data & Analytics Services (DAS) Team and work with application development and QA teams, DevOps teams as well as our National IT teams architecting, building, and managing the systems that support the Federal Reserve System application suite both on-prem and in the Cloud. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to several high-quality data solutions and enhance your technical skills across many disciplines. We employ state of the art technologies that are part of the AWS, Big data ecosystem, which includes tools used for CI/CD, DevOps, data integration, data modeling, and data analytics. You will have an opportunity to apply your critical thinking and technical skills across many disciplines.

In this role, you will contribute to high quality technology solutions that address business needs by developing solutions for the platform or applications for the customer business lines. You should have strong communication skills as you will work closely with other groups, including development and testing efforts of your assigned application components to ensure the successful delivery of the project.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with the development teams and DevOps teams to create and implement Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline.
  • Work with National IT to create and implement the tooling required for Continuous Delivery
  • Ensure our systems and tooling are future proof and can accommodate growth and continually changing requirements.
  • Participate in design and planning sessions to ensure changes to tooling or services are accounted for.
  • Design and implement process improvements.
  • Coach and mentor others on Platform Engineering and DevOps best practices
  • Leads the design of the logical model and implements solutions to support business needs.
  • Takes ownership of technical aspects of software development for assigned applications.
  • Works on multiple projects as a technical team member or lead driving user story analysis and elaboration, design and development of applications, testing, and builds automation tools.
  • Works with developers to make sure that all data solutions are consistent.
  • Leads and communicates to technical and business product managers, as well as third parties, on solution design.
  • Participate in an Agile development environment.
  • Collaborate with Developers, DevOps, Release Management and Operations
  • Maintain security in accordance with Bank information security policies.
  • Participate in an Agile development environment by attending daily standups and sprint planning activities.
  • Provide operational support for applications and utilities.
  • Assist in the deployment of new modules, upgrades, and fixes to the production environment.
  • Leads user training workshops.
  • Acts as a role model, thought leader, and change management for new software and technology throughout the company.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Systems Analysis or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of industry experience in building and supporting enterprise level systems as a platform engineer or equivalent in a production environment.
  • 3 or more years of relevant technical experience in AWS + Big Data (Cloudera) technologies
  • Design, develop, and maintain end to end data solutions using open source, modern data lake, and enterprise data warehouse technologies (Hadoop, Spark, AWS Cloud, etc.)
  • Demonstrated technical expertise across a variety of technology platforms (Big Data – Cloudera, AWS etc.,) and solutions.
  • Proven ability to write clear and concise communications: technical documents, design documents, specifications.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience implementing, supporting, and using the tools and services required for on-prem & cloud DevOps best practices. This includes but not limited to:
  • Application services (WebSphere, Tomcat, Spring Boot)
  • Source code control systems (Subversion, Git variants)
  • Build systems (Jenkins, GitLab, CircleCI)
  • Static analysis tools (SonarQube, Fortify)
  • Containerization tools (Docker, Podman)
  • Orchestration and environment management tools (Puppet, Kubernetes, Ansible,
  • Terraform)
  • Monitoring tools (Splunk, Dynatrace, Datadog)
  • Programming or scripting languages (Java, C++, C#, Python, Bash)
  • Automated testing tools (Selenium, TestComplete)
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services - building, deploying, and monitoring using AWS tools and services such as AWS CodePipeline, AWS CloudWatch, AWS CloudFormation, and AWS X-Ray
  • Thorough understanding of APIs, gateways, orchestrators, databases, networking, monitoring, configuration management and security best practices for a production environment
  • Experience programming and scripting on UNIX / Linux. (i.e., Python or Bash)
  • Experienced in implementing Data and Advanced Analytics solutions, and SaaS or related experience in the Cloud
  • Experience deploying code on Cloud based Infrastructure, with AWS (Amazon Web Services
  • Understanding of security design for enterprise software systems
  • Experience in developing an end-to-end AWS native platform for building Data lakes ( S3, Glue (Crawlers, ETL, Catalog), IAM, CodePipeline, CodeCommit, CloudFormation/Terraform, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, AWS Config, Guard Duty, Secrets Manager, KMS, EC2, Data Visualization Tool: Tableau run on an EC2 or AWS Quicksight), Athena
  • Working experience in Ansible/Terraform/Cloud Formation scripts and Infrastructure as Code scripting is required.
  • Good understanding of data security, governance, and cybersecurity solutions.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or a Green Card holder with the intent to become a U.S. Citizen

Base Salary Range: Min: $113,600 - Mid: $147,600 - Max: $181,600 (Location: San Francisco)

Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
