Hitachi Energy is seeking is a Senior Bushing Engineer to support its Alamo, TN location. This role is responsible for understanding manufacturing techniques used to manufacture the components used in current condenser bushings. Interact with our Global Technical Center in new developments and R&D Projects and provide support to SCM in Cost Out initiatives. For the right candidate, this role can potentially be remote with 25-50% travel. Travel to Europe will be required for training.

Your responsibilities

  • Leverage analytical capacity for problem-solving, process design and product application
  • Work with marketing and engineering staff to understand solutions to meet customer needs
  • Apply knowledge of materials such as porcelain, aluminum, both conductor grade and structural, brass, bronze, epoxy, glass, paper (other cellulose materials), epoxies and oils to the product design
  • Utilize understanding of the IEEE & IEC Standards, as well as North America market requirements
  • Apply knowledge of good sealing practices with a variety of sealing systems that utilize FKM, NBR and CR materials in differing shapes
  • Implement mechanical and structural requirements for condenser bushings (including seismic analysis)
  • Deploy FEA, electrical, electromagnetic, and thermal stress analysis as it relates to finely graded condenser bushings
  • Interpret oil analysis, general chemistry, and DGA

Your background

  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical, electromechanical, or related field and 5+ years of experience. Candidate must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States
  • Understanding of electrical and power engineering theory
  • Working experience with epoxy and chemical processing, is highly desired
  • Experienced with the use of Creo 4.0, Windchill, and mechanical simulations and proficient in mechanical design and drafting principles
  • Experience with developing electro-mechanical products (preferably with medium to high voltage power transformer bushings), is highly desired but not required
  • Experience of the construction techniques, configuration, and technology theory of finely graded condenser bushings
  • Experienced in good bolting practices (ID threads, OD threads, torque values, etc.)
  • Ability to travel internationally for extended periods of time for training purposes
