About the Role:

Reporting to the Director, Business Operations & Governance and as Senior Vendor manager & Business Operations Lead, this is a critical role with 2 key responsibilities:

Vendor Management: Ensuring Optus Business has the accurate contractual agreements in place with our vendors and suppliers, as well as being able to apply appropriate contractual measures for new agreements being established. You will also have full oversight of the vendors and suppliers who form Optus Business’ external supplier roster.

Business Operations: Supporting the Director of Business Operations and Governance to drive program management and governance of Optus Business initiatives. This involves supporting critical initiatives from strategy to execution including monitoring, tracking, and reporting on the delivery of the initiatives.

Based at our Macquarie Park Campus, this is a permanent full-time position supporting the business by providing commercial advice on the impacts of financial and contractual risk, including mitigating vendor risks if required, monitoring contractual end dates, ensuring timely reviews and renewals as the need arises, and providing support to Optus Business partners across the entire BU around contract management related discussions and output.

You will report to key partners on contractual progress from procurement to delivery completion. Financial reporting will need to include budgeted versus actual spend, payments made based on contractual terms, contract periods and calling out those requiring to be renewed.

You will also provide support in ensuring accurate mapping and resourcing of critical projects of work, leading trade-offs across Business to ensure we're delivering the most critical projects first and to our priorities

Key responsible: Vendor Management:

  • You will Analyse, advise, structure, and negotiate commercial agreements aligned to the Optus Business objectives and policies.
  • Partnering with OB collaborators to develop SOWs, as well as working with procurement on vendor MSAs and award increases to existing vendor contracts as required.
  • Lead material and major commercial agreements in accordance with Optus regulatory and procurement requirements, as well as monitor and lead vendors, their SLAs, risks, and governance required for business-as-usual activities
  • Support financial management and provide oversight on budget associated with pivotal initiatives, and the management of said budget across programs of work and/or allocated to vendors
  • Provide support in the tender processes (RFP/RFQ) to handle selection process and to meet business requirements for Optus Business
  • Oversee current vendors who form part of the external supplier roster

Key responsible: Operations Management:

  • Support recommendation of changes in organisational governance procedures and operating models where required to further optimise and continuously improve the overall Optus Business mode of operations
  • Support development and implementation of simple to use and easy to adopt/fit-for-purpose governance structures, processes, and templates to allow for consistent delivery tracking and reporting across programs of work and central initiatives across Optus Business
  • Support the Program managers to be responsible for the scope based on program charters and lead financials for strategic initiatives against the planned budget, while ensuring standard methodology.
  • Support Program Manager(s) to understand critical pathways and risks and issues with regards to inflight programs of work / projects and help to remove roadblocks and resolve situations, with a focus on successful execution without SLT involvement

About You:

  • Minimum 8-10 year’s professional experience in vendor management/procurement/operations/program management
  • Telecommunications experience highly regarded
  • Experience working in Enterprise business responsible for handling a roster of vendors
  • Excellent planning & organisational skills / Strong strategic problem solver & Negotiation skills
  • Financial analysis experience and commercial competence.
  • Strong people management experience & Partnership building skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with superior written and verbal skills
  • Ability to collaborate closely expertly and efficiently at all levels, including Senior executives both internal and external to Optus
