As the Head of Finance Communications, you will have the exciting opportunity to lead the team responsible for the development and execution of an enterprise-wide financial communications strategy. Your experience in influencing and partnering with senior leaders in the Finance community and media on best-in-class communications initiatives will ultimately enhance the company’s competitive position and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the business partner for Finance and advise on communications topics as part of the global Finance leadership team.
  • Counsel the Chief Financial Officer and guide the development of high-impact internal and external executive communications, including strategy, messaging, talking points, presentations, questions and answers and function-level communications. Has responsibility for Global Finance town halls, placement in external conferences, media and other communications activities.
  • Develop a market-shaping Financial communications strategy and execute, utilizing multiple channels and vehicles, including new technologies, key opinion leaders and thought leader events, social and digital content and new technology.
  • Support the development of corporate communications documents, including press releases, corporate investor presentations, earnings releases, earnings call presentations, conference call scripts, and business overviews/other information for Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings, as needed. Responsible for the annual report, ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) report and, the Investor Relations section of the company website content.
  • Drive confidence in the pipeline and future of the company by partnering with Investor Relations, Science Communications and Reputation and Narrative Communications lead to highlight Novartis’ innovative pipeline and discovery platform.
  • Partner with Global Health & Sustainability Communications to drive ESG topic with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute internal and external communications plans for Deal announcements
  • Partner with country media relations teams to develop business media relationships and drive earnings coverage and ongoing business stories that serve as reasons to believe in Novartis’ success.
  • Partner with Corporate Marketing, Corporate Communications, Corporate Affairs creative teams, and agencies, in the development of the investor focused content and the overall brand experience for deal, non-deal and investor events as needed. For live or hybrid events, work with internal team to assess production and technology solutions, including but not limited to event venue, scenic, virtual event platform and live broadcast.
  • Ensure systematic implementation of function wide measurement frameworks encouraging outcome focused activities, continuous improvement & data driven decision making. Lead the development of the Finance Communications team, ensuring high performance and professional development of each team member.

Role Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Extensive diversified communications experience, preferably within multinational companies.
  • Detailed understanding of financial communications, corporate reporting and ESG.
  • Familiarity with the latest industry trends and best practices in Financial Communications.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross functional teams and senior executives to align communications strategies with organizational goals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in a senior communications leadership role.
  • Strong influencing, partnering and negotiation skills, with ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, agency partners and key stakeholders.
