Hitachi Energy is seeking a Mechanical Designer for its Jefferson City, MO location. This role is responsible for conducting the Design of Distribution Transformers. Mechanical Design and Engineering encompasses a variety of engineering assignments such as designing and modifying distribution transformer product designs and the manufacturing information.

Your responsibilities

  • Design Distribution Transformers per customer and applicable industry standards, using 2D and 3D CAD software, designing of transformers typically includes but is not limited to: Conceptual design, BOM generation and Drawing package generation
  • Support in responding to customer inquiries, technical issues and continuous improvement of manufacturing process
  • Support in root cause analysis & corrective actions activities
  • Participate in customer specification reviews and design reviews to ensure proposed design meets the industry standards, customer specifications.
  • Support various engineering tasks involving such functions as analysis, design, development, and test, while working from instructions, drawings, proposals, specifications, and other pertinent information
  • Consult with other engineering groups to ensure that specified engineering criteria are suitable for the proposed application, and recommend revisions, as appropriate
  • Provide support to internal customers in relevant design information

Your background

  • Associate degree or equivalent 2-year diploma in relevant field and 4 or more years of experience in Transformers
  • Candidate must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States
  • CAD Experience 2D and 3D, 3D modeling in Creo is a plus
  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or 2-year degree with 5 Years of experience in transformer design
  • Working knowledge in transformer industry standards or similar (IEEE, CSA, NEC, ASME, etc.)
  • Experience with 3PH Substation transformers is a plus
