The Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact is an ambitious initiative designed to fast-track scientific discoveries into innovations that improve the quality of life for people in Oregon, the nation, and the world. The campus creates the intellectual infrastructure to establish Oregon as a center for both research and development, making Oregon a place where companies can start up and grow. The Knight Campus will reshape the higher education landscape in Oregon by training the next generations of scientists, forging tighter ties with industry and entrepreneurs, and creating new educational opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students.
The Knight Campus Communications Office develops and implements the overall marketing and communication strategy for all units and programs within the Knight Campus — actively managing and directing websites and affiliated digital and social media channels. The office plans, creates, produces, and distributes annual reports, presentations, newsletters, brochures, blogs, advertisements, photos, videos, email campaigns, recruitment collateral, news releases, announcements, stories, and profiles. The team elevates the local relevance, national competitiveness, and global recognition of the Knight Campus and develops and administers the campus' brand identity standards in accordance with the university's overall marketing strategy and identity standards.
Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Graphic and Visual Designer (designer) will provide hands-on creative design consulting and production of high-quality marketing and communications collateral for Knight Campus units and leadership. The designer requires knowledge and facility with industry-standard design software; familiarity with interactive and digital media; video and photography capabilities; the ability to maintain visual identity and branding standards; experience with layout, composition-press, and printing processes; and familiarity with display and exhibit preparation. Knowledge of social media platforms and effective visual effects is required. The ability to understand proper use of the English language and communicate verbally and in writing with colleagues to anticipate needs, recommend appropriate deliverables, and engage as a communication partner are essential skills. The designer will have the ability to synthesize complex information into effective visual assets and short text captions. This position interacts with Knight Campus leadership, faculty, students, and administrative partners. This position involves assignments that are time-sensitive and can occur throughout the week, including weekends.
Degree may be in Graphic Design, Graphic Art, Fine Art, or closely related field.
