About the Role:

Everest Information Technology is currently seeking a Vice President of IT Quality Assurance (QA) to join our Corporate Applications and Services organization. The is a key cross-functional role that is focused on pivotal business-facing capability of ensuring systems quality, reliability, and usability. This role will also be responsible for establishing a quality improvement mindset throughout the IT organization and lead a global staff with heavy representation of vendor resources. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Corporate Applications and Services, who reports to the Everest Group’s Global CIO, this role will play a critical part in leading IT’s transformation to a strong business-oriented function with – a clear strategic vision, recognized delivery excellence, with tight alignment to business’ strategic and operational goals.

A key success responsibility will be seeking and injecting quality in our software development practices and enabling IT to progress on strategic roadmap while Everest is increasing its investment in technology. As a change agent, this is an opportunity to deliver business value and mature Quality Assurance capability and chapter thereby enhancing IT’s service delivery confidence. Key outcomes would include increasing systems and product quality, strengthening Quality Assurance and Quality Engineering capabilities, reducing production issues, and improving user experience by partnering directly with application development teams.

This position will be based in our Warren, NJ Corporate US Headquarters and require on-site presence in accordance with our hybrid policy.

What You’ll Do

Everest is growing and IT’s capital portfolio is also growing increasing the application support and maintenance portfolio with systems development globally. You will partner closely with senior leaders in IT in evolving technology vision through following responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute QA Strategy across all QA teams.
  • Scale, standardize, modernize and evolve IT operating model for centralized quality assurance function and decentralized quality engineering chapter.
  • Partner with executive IT leadership and other technology leaders to execute key initiatives and ensure cohesive quality assurance across all IT teams and functions.
  • Assure systems and product quality with a well-defined QA playbook that defines clear process-driven methodology and thereby ensures QA standards, best practices.
  • Partner and manage strategic vendor relationships through managed services agreements with clear outcome-based service-level objectives (SLOs). Ensure consistency with global IT talent strategy by migrating from transactional project staffing to a consolidated and scaled managed services agreement across all IT systems and platforms.
  • Create global coverage with follow-the-sun support model.
  • Serve as a test automation leader responsible for establishing a standards-based automation and performance testing competency with well-defined framework, testing and test data for key applications across the portfolio.
  • Drive continuous improvement and productivity with monthly and quarterly reviews, quality reviews, root-cause analysis, problem resolution, and iterating on best practices in partnership with business users, and application development.
  • Inform system development lifecycle methodologies and standards.
  • Establish cadence and communications to build a common understanding and strengthen alignment through frequent and fact-based performance metrics and communications.
  • Disseminate timely updates for executive and operational awareness.
  • Create Quality Assurance Balanced Scorecard that aligns with IT strategic objectives.
  • Manage QA budget through timely forecasting, variance analysis and portfolio adjustments.
  • Increase knowledge base by documenting and maintaining key procedures.
  • Improve testing coverage.
  • Support adherence of compliance, regulatory, and security protocols.

This role requires forethought, coordination across IT and business, rigorous insight into quality and validation challenges. Ultimately, you will partner with business and IT stakeholders throughout Everest and across all levels of the organization.

You will also create and evolve a Quality Engineering community across application development and data engineering teams globally. This practice will establish consistency, define career paths and enable uplifting of traditional competencies through metrics, playbooks, training, standards, etc. 

A critical success factor for this role will be the ability to institutionalize consistent and disciplined quality assurance and engineering blueprint, governance structure and communications.

What you’ll need

  • 15+ years in an Information Technology related field, ideally with experience in the financial services and/or insurance industry.
  • Proven track record of building and shaping a global quality assurance capability across the enterprise
  • Experience in business/industry, managing cross-functional teams or projects, and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders.
  • In-depth software engineering and development lifecycle knowledge.
  • Strong change agent with the ability to improve quality of delivery across the IT organization.
  • Ability to envision and think strategically but execute with pragmatism.
  • Excellent executive-ready and organizational communications through direct and indirect development of presentations, business cases and narratives.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, planning and execution skills.
  • Focus on results and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong global delivery model and managed services agreement vendor management skills.
