We are looking for highly motivated people with proven track record for an internship in control system design, first principles modeling of physical systems, estimation algorithms, dynamic optimization, model based diagnostics\analytics and developing & deploying algorithms on edge hardware. The applications could be for different GE businesses including assets like gas turbines, wind turbines, microgrid controllers etc.

Job Description

This role requires a technologist with proven expertise in control system design, first principles modeling of physical systems, estimation algorithms, dynamic optimization, model based diagnostics\analytics and developing & deploying algorithms on edge hardware. The internship would be done under the guidance of a senior researcher in the Controls and Optimization organization. The candidate should have experience of working in applied research labs in the above areas. In particular, the individual is expected to conduct research in developing system models of assets like gas turbines, wind turbines, microgrid controllers etc. and developing control and estimation algorithms to improve the performance, availability and reliability of these assets.

We are looking for candidates currently enrolled with Masters or PhD program in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or Aeronautical Engineering, having an outstanding track record for independent applied research and demonstrated ability to learn and apply recent advances in controls, optimization and estimation. The candidate must be eager to work in a global team of experienced and dynamic researchers to develop the next generation of control systems hardware and software. Should be a team player with good communication skills and passionate about building and deploying the algorithms in lab prototypes\field pilots.

Candidates should have a strong physics and math orientation, demonstrably good Matlab\Simulink skills, Python and familiarity of hardware in the loop simulation platforms like dSpace etc. Exposure to edge software and hardware is also desired.
