About the team and position

We’re looking for a Senior UX Writer to join our Design organization. This individual will work with the Product Design team in the development of a range of customer experiences, including email campaigns, push notifications, text campaigns, UI copy and contributing to our style guides. You’ll own multiple full-cycle projects collaborating with Product Designers, Visual Designers and subject matter experts. You’ll have the opportunity to work across different business units and learn the ins and outs of Carvana.

The Senior UX Writer will be a champion for our users, shaping content and product experiences with words. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute ideas that further the vision of the product, define a project's content strategy, and drive consensus for the language used throughout the experience.

Your insights and work will have an immediate, tangible impact on our business, high visibility amongst our growing customer base, and leverages the latest in technology. What you’ll do

  • Write clear, concise, original content across multiple channels and touch points, in Carvana’s tone and voice.
  • Translate complex concepts and processes into compelling, easy to follow content.
  • Collaborate with Design teams, product managers, and other stakeholders, to develop strategies to shape positive customer experiences, create cohesive product narratives, translate product requirement documents into content, and create frameworks as needed.
  • Partner with stakeholders and team members to build, deliver and maintain content guidelines, including a robust vocab guide for every touchpoint. 
  • Conduct competitive research and provide solutions and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Mentor other team members and provide constructive feedback to peers.
  • Work with analytics and research partners to make data driven recommendations. 
  • Stay up-to-speed on relevant industry trends and monitor competitive products.
  • Contribute to GPT/LLM projects and inform how we leverage them
  • Evangelize the tools, tips and tricks you’ve mastered along the way to scale our expertise and improve content across the organization
  • Solve information architecture, strategy and content design problems 

What you should know/have

To be able to do your job at Carvana, there are some basic requirements we want to share with you.

  • A Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, in communications, creative or technical writing, HCI, UX, or similar field. 
  • 5+ years experience writing consumer-facing product content, including web, app, email, SMS, chatbot, SEO content, FAQs, etc.
  • A portfolio that showcases relevant work experience.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight 
  • Experience mentoring other writers.
  • Excellent skills in communication, editing, and proofreading, including QA/QC. 
  • Experience in creative development and the product design process.
  • Ability to produce high-quality content in a high volume, fast-paced environment. 
  • General understanding of digital marketing and communication best practices, including UX Writing and Design.
  • Baseline understanding of key information architecture concepts and content strategy frameworks
  • Understanding of how to leverage AI and other tools for efficiency and quality
  • Experience using web-based design applications and tools, including Figma, HTML, and Google products.
  • Ability to apply technical experience and know-how to make complex concepts or processes easy to understand.
  • The ability to collect, analyze and interpret testing and customer utilization data, including A/B testing.
  • Ability to work in an office environment, with extensive use of computers.
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others effectively in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

Location

This position is located in our Los Angeles, CA Headquarters (just north of LAX) and commutes into the office on a hybrid schedule (M, T, TH in the office, and W, F remote).
