Hitachi Energy is seeking a SCM Engineering Specialist in Brno (Czech) or Sevlievo (Bulgaria). This role is responsible for leading R&D projects from Procurement side for development of various components within the scope of the Design-to-Value program for product cost optimization.

Your responsibilities

  • Interface between R&D organization and SCM community.
  • Engagement in Design-to-Value projects to optimize product cost and value at the same time.
  • Strong collaboration with Design-to-Value leaders to strengthen the link to the SCM organization and coordinate cost and value improvement projects.
  • Technical discussions with suppliers, based on design concepts and to derive optimum design solution.
  • Technical evaluation of supplier offers, acceptance of delivered materials, equipment or services.
  • Identifying and qualifying new suppliers in cooperation with Supplier Quality.
  • Strong collaboration with regional Category Managers for supplier selections.
  • Manages supply risk by promoting dual supply already during development phase of new critical components and eliminating single source situations.
  • Supports the development of preferred or approved suppliers to meet the level required for sustainable quality and on-time delivery.
  • Strong collaboration with Technology Centers and involvement in R&D projects for new product launches.

Your background

  • Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering and a minimum of 5 years of experience in New Product development in Switchgear/Automotive or relevant industry.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings is a must.
  • Knowledge of casting, forging & machining parts, electrical components, insulators, surface treatment processes.
  • Must be familiar with ERP and SAP environment and basic experience of tools like lean manufacturing, KANBAN, and VMI.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Good Communication Skills & Fluency in English.
  • Willingness to Travel.
