The Department of Human Genetics has an exciting opportunity for a Full-time Sr. Clinic Assistant to work on the UHealth Camus. The Sr. Clinic Assistant works directly with patients and various healthcare facilities to obtain patient information for medical records in preparation for first clinic visits. The incumbent also assists with patient care, such as nursing activities and laboratory collections.

  • Act as primary phone contact for metabolic patients for non-nutrition and non-urgent medical needs 
  • Verification of metabolic clinic schedules and coordinating clinic visits for patients. Including rescheduling no show patients. 
  • Follow up with the implementation of patients’ care plan as prescribed by genetics team 
  • Insurance verification for medical food/formula/medication access and locating finding the DME/specialty pharmacy to distribute 
  • Completing prescription and authorization forms or phoning in prescriptions as requested by medical team 
  • Data Entry and Maintenance of the Newborn Screen Database  
  • Assist with Newborn Screen duties and assisting the LSD nurses as needed  
  • Inventory management and disbursement of Low Protein Food Pantry 
  • Completing requisition, entering orders, referrals in U-Chart. Uploading scanned documents and images in U-Chart as needed. In charge of preparing items to be given to scanning team 
  • Assisting physician in setting up for various in-office minor procedures. 
  • In charge of making sure clinic exam rooms are clean, orderly, well stocked and that all equipment is in working condition and locked cabinets when appropriate.

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience 
  • Active State of Florida CNA license or MA License 
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail. 
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines. 
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion. 
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary. 
  • Commitment to the University’s core values. 
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
