Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit 

In the Bryan School of Business & Economics, we create and disseminate knowledge about the theory and practice of business. In addition to our courses and research, we accomplish this through hands-on projects, global experiences, and outreach to the community. Position Summary

The primary purpose of the Student Professional Development Advisor is to organize and facilitate curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular personal and professional development initiatives to improve the career readiness skills of undergraduate students in the Bryan School of Business and Economics. The main responsibilities of this role include advising students and student organizations on professional development opportunities, teaching in the Blueprint Series, administering the Bryan Gold Career Readiness Challenge, and supervising the Team Leader program. The position will also oversee the creation, logistics and assessment of personal and professional development activities, as deemed necessary, to support student development.

The duties of the professional development advisor for the Bryan School may include any of the following:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Bryan Gold Career Readiness Challenge and develop a structured plan to incentivize engagement
  • Advise students and student organization executive board members on the design and delivery of personal and professional development activities through Bryan Gold
  • Recruit, train, and supervise 20+ Team Leaders to serve as undergraduate peer mentors in the Blueprint Series
  • Develop personal and professional development curriculum, and teach courses in the Blueprint Series
  • Deliver timely and relevant events related to professional development, ensuring sufficient opportunities are provided for on-campus and online students
  • Manage the implementation and ongoing use of software related to undergraduate professional development programs
  • Collaborate with the Bryan School Office of External Affairs and other campus partners to provide engagement opportunities for students with external organizations
  • Assist the Assistant Director, Undergraduate Professional Development with other initiatives and activities as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in business, education, or a related field OR
  • A bachelor’s degree with the expectation of an earned master’s degree in business, education, or a related field by August 1, 2024.

Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Related experience in student services, student professional development, or career development.
  • Experience working in a business school or higher education.
  • Experience with student data management systems.
  • Personal experience with internships, either through personal student experience or from a business perspective, will be considered favorably.
