University of Virginia has flagged the Project Coordinator job as unavailable. Let’s keep looking.

UVA Library is seeking qualified candidates to join the Digital Production Group as an Imaging Specialist & Project Coordinator. The Digital Production Group (DPG) is responsible for the creation of digital surrogates from the University Library’s holdings. Collaborating closely with partners and patrons throughout the University, DPG provides workflows, resources, and expertise in the creation of digital content. DPG handles requests for digitization and online access of University Library materials to support the educational and research mission of the University.

Reporting to the DPG Manager, the Imaging Specialist & Project Coordinator is an entry-level or early career position, providing an opportunity for those trained and skilled in photography to become conversant with cultural heritage imaging in a new and well-outfitted studio in the recently renovated Shannon Library, among colleagues with deep experience in the field. The chosen candidate will eventually be responsible for approximately one-third of the group’s image production and will serve as one of the trainers for student employees in the unit. They will provide project management for the group’s collection building efforts focused on public domain materials from the library’s circulating collections.

The Imaging Specialist & Project Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day management of student employees and the care and handling of materials in their queue. They will be expected to develop and maintain knowledge of the imaging equipment and workflows to create high quality digital surrogates, and a thorough understanding of the group’s metadata standards.

The Imaging Specialist will also post to the unit’s social media platforms news and notes of interest about the unit on a regular basis. Once trained, the candidate in this position will be eligible for remote work, one day a week.
