Job Description

Montclair State University (MSU) is implementing a host of new applications and technologies, including new Finance (PeopleSoft), Student (Banner), and HR (WorkDay) systems, to enable our rapidly growing campus and academic programs. We are recruiting for a number of positions to strengthen the IT team supporting this environment.

Oracle The Database Administrator shall be responsible for providing relational database support in both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments, particularly in support of our PeopleSoft and/or Banner applications. This includes, but it not limited to, database security, backup and recovery, monitoring, analysis and optimization of relational databases in development, test and production environments.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Preparing account analysis and journal entries as assigned. • Reviewing account balances for completeness and the proper classification of transactions. • Process recurring journals in the appropriate period. • Assisting the Senior Accountant in reconciling financial data from third party systems, including Banner, TouchNet, Marketplace, e-commerce, payroll, parking, P-cards, etc. at a pre-determined frequency but not less than monthly. • Providing support in non-student billings and receivables. • Researching and clearing suspense account items and notifying the data source of corrections needed to avoid repetitive errors. • Recommending process improvements to the Supervisor. • Assisting in closing the financial records each month and annually. • Notifying the Supervisor of the need for new or revised ChartField values. • Preparing audit schedules as assigned and providing support to the general accounting department. • Meeting deliverable deadlines. • Assisting stakeholders and requestors so they understand account balances and content. • Correcting GL account errors and omissions on a timely basis. • Utilizing PeopleSoft queries and reports to prepare reports and analysis. • Assisting the Supervisor in resolving helpdesk tickets as first level support for the GL module. • Staying knowledgeable of current GAAP as issued by GASB and FASB. • Escalating unresolved issues to Management as appropriate. • Performing other duties as assigned.
