The Knopf Doubleday Creative Services department has a new exciting opportunity for a Designer to join the team. Reporting to the Creative Marketing and Advertising Director, the Designer will create digital and print advertising, as well as work with colleagues on creative assets for consumer- and sales-facing initiatives for a wide variety of hardcover fiction and nonfiction titles across the Knopf Doubleday Group’s imprints.

Responsibilities

  • Devise and create digital assets, including display ads, motion graphics, video, social media materials, retailer assets, and email creative
  • Design print advertising, including magazine, newspaper, and outdoor ads, as well as in-store and promotional materials
  • Take lifestyle shots of books for use on social media and in advertising
  • Establish branding and identity for Knopf Doubleday book list
  • Stay abreast of current best practices and trends in design, web technologies and usability, and share information with design and marketing teams
  • Support marketing and publicity departments in executing special design projects

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of graphic design experience preferred
  • A strong eye for typefaces and typography, and editorial page layout and desire to stay current on graphic design and typography trends
  • Proficient knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite CC: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects
  • Interest in lifestyle photography with a keen eye for taking product shots
  • Ability to think creatively and be an effective problem-solver, while staying on schedule
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Ability to tackle projects independently and collaborate and seek direction when needed
  • Prior knowledge and interest in creating content for social media platforms
  • Collaborative nature and desire to communicate design thinking
  • Familiarity with Final Cut Pro and/or Adobe Premiere preferred
  • Working knowledge of MS Office programs: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of designing for HTML, CSS, and JavaScript a plus
