The Department of Informatics and Analytics (I&A) at Dana-Farber has multiple openings for highly motivated bioinformatics software or data engineers who are passionate about the potential for molecular data to inform clinical care of cancer patients and the groundbreaking discoveries that are a product of genomic data integration and analysis. The qualified candidate will work on an exciting initiative to build a cloud-based bioinformatics analysis platform. The platform will enable researchers at DFCI to easily manage their genomic and biomedical data in the cloud environment, select and kick off containerized NGS analysis workflows, monitor the execution status and eventually visualize the results. The successful candidate is expected to collaborate with functional teams such as Bioinformatics and Data Engineering, and cloud and other technology vendors.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MS preferred, in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Python, R, Perl and/or other languages
  • Experience with data analysis in cloud environment, especially Microsoft Azure
  • Proficient with Linux environment, shell scripting, and command line tools
  • Experience with software development and Agile process is a strong plus

  • Enthusiastic about data security, process automation, and innovation
  • Familiar with distributed code versioning tools such as Git, GitHub, Bitbucket
  • Detail oriented with ability to gain deep understanding of technical systems 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, passionate about innovative solutions
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics workflow management such as Cromwell and Nextflow
