The role of an SAP infrastructure Architect is critical for designing and maintaining the SAP infrastructure to support the business needs, ensuring that it is scalable, secure, and optimized for performance. In this role, the SAP infrastructure architect must have a deep understanding of SAP applications, infrastructure, and integration with other enterprise systems, as well as knowledge of the latest technologies and trends in the industry.

Here are some of the key responsibilities of an SAP infrastructure architect:

  • Design and implement the SAP infrastructure: The SAP architect is responsible for designing and implementing the SAP infrastructure, including servers, storage, and network devices, to ensure that it meets the business needs and is scalable, secure, and optimized for performance.
  • Develop SAP infrastructure standards: The SAP architect must develop and maintain infrastructure standards and best practices for the SAP environment, including server sizing, storage capacity planning, and network design, to ensure consistency and compliance with industry standards.
  • Ensure the quality of the architecture deliverables: The SAP infrastructure Architect ensures the quality of the architecture deliverables, which include the technical design documents, infrastructure diagrams, and migration plan. They own those deliverables and ensure that they meet the industry standards and the best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance: The SAP architect must provide technical guidance and support to other team members, including SAP administrators, infrastructure engineers, and project managers, to ensure that they follow the established standards and best practices.
  • Perform infrastructure assessments: The SAP architect must perform regular assessments of the SAP infrastructure to identify potential issues or bottlenecks and recommend appropriate solutions to optimize performance, reduce downtime, and enhance security.
  • Collaborate with other teams: The SAP architect must collaborate with other teams, mainly with our SAP functional team as well as external providers, SAP application consultants, security consultants, and project managers, to ensure that the SAP infrastructure supports the business requirements and meets the project objectives.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends: The SAP architect must stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in the industry related to SAP infrastructure, such as cloud computing, virtualization, and containerization, and recommend appropriate solutions to improve the SAP environment.
  • Modernize the technical architecture: The SAP infrastructure Architect must develop the technical architecture for the migration to Azure Cloud or SAP RISE. They evaluate the existing SAP infrastructure, assess the technical requirements, and design the new infrastructure to meet the business objectives and support the new platform.
  • Develop the migration plan: The SAP infrastructure Architect develops the migration plan, which includes the technical tasks, timelines, and resource requirements. They work closely with the project team to ensure that the migration plan is aligned with the business objectives and the project timelines.
  • Evaluate the migration tools: The SAP infrastructure Architect evaluates the migration tools, such as Azure Migration Center, Azure Site Recovery, or SAP Cloud Platform, and selects the most appropriate tool for the migration. They ensure that the migration tools are aligned with the technical requirements and the project timelines.

Overall, the SAP architect is a critical role for ensuring that the SAP infrastructure supports the business needs, meets the performance and security requirements, and is optimized for cost and efficiency. They must have excellent technical skills, communication skills, and leadership skills to collaborate effectively with other teams and stakeholders.

Basic wage component (gross) and other rewards: starting from 3000 EUR brutto /month + VAR*
