The Development Associate is responsible for all aspects of Hopkins Center membership and annual giving, including strengthening the programs through development, strategy and execution of program appeals.

DescriptionRequired Qualifications - Education and Yrs ExpBachelors plus 3-5 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experienceRequired Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities- Bachelor’s degree and three to five years relevant work experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite applications including Outlook, Word and Excel, particularly with mail merges. 
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills; attention to detail.
  • High level of initiative, creativity and energy. 
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision in a fast-paced environment; self-direction in the initiation, coordination and completion of tasks is essential.

Preferred Qualifications-Experience with CRM database platforms particularly Tessitura and/or Advance 

  • Experience in the non-profit sector, particularly in the arts or higher education 
  • Experience planning and executing events 
  • Experience supervising volunteers and/or student workers

Key Accountabilities

DescriptionAnnual Giving 

This position supports the Senior Donor Relations Officer on efforts to increase general operating and programming support for the Hopkins Center for the Arts. Responsibilities include developing and executing strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward Hopkins Center Memberships between $100 and $10,000. The Development Associate manages the process by which alumni/ae and community members become members of the program, with an eye towards inclusivity and access for all. The role ensures that the program stays on budget and participates in setting giving expectations; staffs and represents the Hopkins Center at performances, programs, and events as needed; and collaborates with the Marketing department on print and digital communications including print solicitations, emails, website, and social media.

This position is responsible for ensuring gifts are accurately recorded, promptly acknowledged and supports the ongoing integrity of constituent databases. This role maintains accurate records of memberships and gifts, processing of annual renewals, fulfilling membership benefits, and providing membership reports as needed. Collaborates with various departments to reconcile gifts and ensure accurate constituent data across platforms and contributes to the way our organization uses the Tessitura database to its benefit, looking for ways to analyze and leverage the data to identify giving trends, segment communications, and improve the donor experience.

The Development Associate works carefully to increase constituent engagement with the arts at Dartmouth through multiple channels including events, social media, and print/digital communication. Designs and executes an annual calendar of direct appeals to solicit new and renewed annual gifts to the Hopkins Center in coordination with several departments. Working with the Senior Donor Relations Officer, oversees general donor communications, including printed materials, email, and website content; and coordinates communication efforts. This role provides support to the Senior Donor Relations Officer for Hopkins Center Advisory Board gatherings including assembling board report and meeting materials and social event coordination; coordinates the Membership Advisory Group including scheduling and developing agendas. This role serves as the primary contact and organizer of Membership benefits and related events.
