Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Senior Product Development Engineer is a key contributor to the New Product Development team within TE Connectivity - IVD Solutions. Our core mission is to develop customer products and ultimately achieve volume manufacturing in compliance with the ISO Quality Management System. Duties include but not limited to the design and development of final products and prototypes, detailed specifications and tolerances, and test methods, and lead a team through the process. The Senior Product Development Engineer will also lead or assist in the development of plans to reach product realization for our customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Project technical leadership: resource planning for meeting project needs
  • Capable of establishing product vision for the development of a customer’s product.
  • Mentor and manage Product Development Engineers on assigned projects.
  • Prioritize, organize, and execute demanding milestones and goals within projects.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of selected concepts to meet functional customer needs, requirements, and specifications
  • Perform 3D and 2D computer aided design.
  • Design, develop and prototype new products in accordance with ISO 13485 requirements
  • Evaluate the feasibility of concepts and/or prototypes through engineering testing and analysis,
  • Evaluate, document, and implement potential design and process changes to improve product performance, manufacturability, safety or cost
  • Must have a strong understanding of new product development technologies and application to company needs
  • Obtain components, supplies, and equipment to support prototype assembly, and conduct preliminary OEM vendor assessment and selection
  • Assess reliability, safety, performance and risk of new designs & methodologies; communicate development schedules and compatibility or design issues throughout the team continuously
  • Provide input into the creation and modification of Product Specifications in alignment with Customer Requirements
  • Travel as needed (domestic and international)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What your background should look like:

Education/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, bioengineering, or equivalent STEM degree
  • Must have experience developing products in the IVD and medical device space.
  • Master level of main (microfluidic) IVD-related technologies and systems (e.g. CAD, PCR thermocycler, reagent storage, surface treatment, cartridge actuation & sensing strategies…) preferred.
  • Must be able to lead engineering teams.
  • Manage customer relationships.
  • Experience in ISO QMS required.
  • Must have a working knowledge of 3D solid modeling with preferred knowledge in SolidWorks.
  • Must have a working knowledge of design for plastic injection molding and mold design experience
  • Shop experience desirable with a working knowledge of drawing creation, manufacturing methods, tolerances, and general design for manufacturing.
  • Must work with the management team and program managers.
  • Must be able to create and maintain project action items and hold others accountable.
  • Must maintain and affect company vision, values, and culture.
  • Strong MS Office Suite experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.

COMPENSATION

  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $84,640 - $126,960k annually (subject to change dependent on physical location)
  • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
  • Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
