UW Medical Center - Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for a Clinical Abstraction and QI Manager in the Center for Clinical Excellence. The Clinical Abstraction & QI Manager provides leadership and oversight of the UW Medical Centers RN Abstraction Team and oversees collection and reporting of Nursing Quality Indicators for internal and external benchmarking for both UW Medical Center - Northwest and UW Medical Center - Montlake campuses. This person reports to the UW Medical Center Associate Director of Clinical Analytics.

SCHEDULE

Full-time day shift.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage RN Clinical Abstraction Team ensuring timely and accurate data submissions to external registries

Facilitate education and development of the team by connecting them to internal and external resources

Work with registry vendors to understand clinical definitions and requirements

Partner with department leadership to interpret clinical registry reports and identify improvement opportunities

Engage clinical and administrative stakeholders by communicating report findings and opportunities

Promote value of the clinical abstractions team’s expertise and support their inclusion in relevant programs/committees

Oversee participation in NDNQI ensuring nursing quality indicators are submitted and accurately reflect hospital performance

Partner with Clinical Analytics team to review data sources and definitions

Follow-up on requests from Chief Nursing Officer and support bi-annual Magnet certification process

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field

Minimum 6 years of healthcare experience

Two years managing quality programs or initiatives

Familiarity with data interpretation and presentation

Professional communication skills and comfort interfacing with administrative, clinical, and executive leadership.

LEGAL REQUIREMENTS

Current Washington State license if applicable.

DESIRED

Master’s Degree in healthcare-related field

Two years supervisory experience
