Scientific Writer

Med-Surgery - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (24001010)

The Department of Surgery, Division of Minimally Invasive Surgery is seeking a Scientific Writer. The Scientific Writer, in collaboration with the Division Chief and other senior leadership members, assists in conjunction with multi-disciplinary teams, with writing large, multi-investigator grant proposals, and other manuscripts. In addition, manages a research study or assists with larger studies to include but not limited to development and execution of patient recruitment plan, and coordinating and performing study visits with patients. Oversees and prepares IRB application. Monitors study budgets and expenditures. Maintains and orders supplies as needed. Facilitates research/project team meetings. Coordinates special studies or projects as directed.

Job Summary

Assists, in conjunction with multi-disciplinary teams, with writing large, multi-investigator grant proposals and other manuscripts, as well as editing scientific reports, assisting with website copy, providing writing/editing support for book chapters, editing reports by internal and external stakeholders, and developing ad hoc requested materials. Implements critical scientific research editing to documents and maintains compliance with all guidelines and regulations.

Essential Functions Candidate must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office software, including but not limited to PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.

Physical Effort The position is mostly sedentary. Will require walking across campus (such as operating rooms, lab, and office locations).
