Job Summary 

The Regulatory Affairs Manager role focuses on ensuring regulatory compliance for products in East African markets, both before and after approval. This includes compiling product dossiers for registering any other necessary information, also providing regulatory advice for business planning, and promptly communicating regulatory changes and impact to the organization. The role involves active participation in trade associations, technical committees for standards review , and governmental relations to lobby and influence regulations. Additionally, the manager needs to provide strategic support and guidance to the business by also devising a Product Verification of Conformity (PVoC) plan to help streamline implementation across markets, as well as efficiently reviewing and approving artwork and INCI lists.

What you will do

  • Ensures timely compilation of product registration dossiers/notification, using ZenGRC an internal tool for loading documentation requests. 
  • Ensures proactive compliance of Colgate products with all applicable regulations across the East Africa Region.
  • Supports Technology and other internal stakeholders by delivering regulatory assessments.
  • Keeps abreasts on latest regulatory developments in East African countries.
  • Participates (as deemed appropriate by line manager) actively in trade association meetings and uses the Trade Association as a platform to influence rulemaking.
  • Monitor and advise on regulatory requirements for product sampling and distribution channel restrictions in East Africa
  • Builds strong relationships with key stakeholders within the business (Marketing, Logistics, etc) as well as external partners.
  • Continuous communication and update of the Work In Progress File/Registered Product File to identify registrations that have been filed, approved and are due for renewal. Also uploading all dossier documentation onto the Community.
  • Continuous update of the Registered Product Tracker and the ID card for any regulations updates.
  • Issue regular status updates on current activities in East Africa.
  • Attend Africa Eurasia Regulatory Meetings
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Ensure compliance with all policies and standards

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Chemistry, Pharmacy or Life Sciences. Advanced degree preferred 
  • Master's Degree Chemistry, Pharmacy or Life Sciences.
  • 2 Years of Consumer Goods Industry Experience 
  • Min 2 Years of Functional Experience 
  • Position Specific Requirement, if any: 2 Years of Regulatory Experience 

Functional capabilities

  • Good understanding of the registration and regulatory requirements in East African countries 
  • Build good working relationships with authorities / government bodies relevant to Colgate.
  • Knowledge/experience in the regulatory framework relevant to Colgate.

Skills

  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral, with excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Strong leadership skills and behaviors. 
  • Effective Presentation skills
  • Fluent in spoken and written English. 
  • Results oriented

Additional Skills/Qualifications

  • Commercial background and/or understanding in logistics/commerce would give some advantage.
