Support and assist Technical Teams in coordinating with Canadian French speaking teams in terms of translations / interpretations / revising all types of documents from English to French and French to English, to manage and support regional teams in meetings and discussions with bids and proposals, reporting, discussions on projects and drawings/documents and any other communications that would be required to complete the assigned task/project in a timely and efficient manner. 

Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Work closely with the regional team to support them in interaction with the French region representatives - Translate conversation, documents, drawings, reports, bids, proposals., 
  • Coordinate translation projects, including taking region requests, creating work plans for projects and ensure delivery of translations on time, on budget and according to client specifications.
  • Follow-up with all the stakeholders to monitor and closure as per the schedule of due dates for drawings, specifications, software, technical manuals, and other documents.
  • Revise the quality of translated material by external resources and ensure documents meet established guidelines.
  • Proofread documents/reports to ensure language accuracy.
  • Liaise with clients and subject matter experts to ensure the correct context of translations.
  • Convert concepts in the source language to equivalent concepts in the target language.
  • Compile information, such as technical terms used in legal settings, into glossaries and terminology databases to be used in translations.
  • Create and maintain translation memories, term, and text bases.
  • Manage the flow of correspondence in and out of the company through proper transmittals; ensure outgoing documents are accurate, comply with company standards and policies, route correspondence to correct associates; and protect and secure confidential and proprietary information.
  • Copy or scan materials; organize, maintain, and safeguard files and database.
  • Review and verify project documents for completeness, format, and compliance with contract requirements.
  • Submit project documentation to team lead for their approval and transmit approved documents to customer.
  • Distribute documentation to the project team and customers for their reviews and comments.
  • Receive, distribute, and track comments received from customers.
  • Liaise with engineers, managers, customers, and other stakeholders to discuss the project, prepare documents, or modify reports accordingly.
  • Liaise with document originators or engineer’s liaison personnel to resolve discrepancies and compile required changes to documents.
  • Update changes of computerized or manual control records; release documents and notify the affected departments.
  • Provide support to other departments within the framework of the project e.g. assisting flow of company info.

Minimum Qualification and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (e.g., Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial), Urban Planning, Technical Management or similar
  • French language proficiency certificate (DELF B1 or higher) with excellent oral and written communication skills in French.
  • Prior experience in engineering, manufacturing or construction is preferred.

  • Adaptability to cope with diverse systems and procedures applicable to a variety of projects. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Willing and proactiveness to work under tight deadlines and taking ownership of the tasks assigned to him or her.
  • Must be customer service oriented - willing and proactiveness to work under tight deadlines and take ownership of the tasks assigned.
  • Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage the discussions and documentation process independently.
