CSIRO's Information and Technology (IM&T) business unit is embarking on an ambitious program of work designed to support the organisation’s strategy to 2024. Underpinning the program is a desire for staff to have seamless, secure access to tools, systems and processes that back the delivery of world class science. 

IM&T’s Applications Group develops software solutions that support CSIRO’s science and business functions. The group currently has openings for two Senior Project Managers who can lead, inspire and empower our project teams, stakeholders and customers. Working in an interdisciplinary team in an agile and highly collaborative environment, you will manage one or more IT projects using Agile Software Delivery Methodologies. As a Project Manager with IM&T, you will understand the benefits of servant leadership and self-directed teams and help remove external impediments for team and project success.

In this role you will:

  • Manage complex projects using methodologies appropriate to the project and the context.
  • Successfully deliver projects to scope, budget, schedule, stakeholder expectation and with appropriately mitigated risks.
  • Provide coaching and support to enable team colleagues to do their best work.
  • Identify and manage project risks and issues, and use required judgement to prioritise and escalate matters that may impact delivery.
  • Facilitate creation, review and stakeholder acceptance of project management products and deliverables.
  • Contribute to change management processes associated with the delivery of projects.
  • Effectively transition new products or services into the business-as-usual environment.
  • Play a lead role as part of a regionally dispersed, multi-disciplinary team.

Location: Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra or Melbourne

Salary: AU$115k - AU$135k per annum, plus up to 15.4% superannuation

Tenure: Specified term of approximately 3 years (ending 30 June, 2024)

To be considered you will need:

  • Complex project management experience with a minimum of approximately 5 years in a software delivery environment.
  • Experience in a project management role using a variety of methodologies on projects with complexity in scope, size, timelines and/or number of stakeholders.
  • Proven success in delivering projects to scope, budget, schedule, and stakeholder expectation.
  • High-level communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to present to, and interact confidently with a range of stakeholders across all seniority levels.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as a senior member of a team and effectively promote a team approach
  • The ability to successfully manage several competing project priorities simultaneously, and remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.
  • Sound judgement in relation to identifying and resolving project delivery issues.
