Field Service Engineer Quality Controls Systems East Netherlands

The Process Automation business area is the part of ABB which focuses on market segments such as Utilities (water and infra), marine, metals & minerals, oil & gas, chemical/pharma, paper, food as well as products such as analytical equipment. One of the business units within these Businsss Areae is Process Industries. They supply drives and controls for the paper and metal industry. A vacancy has arisen within this department for the position of Field Service Engineer Quality Control Systems. Quality Control Systems are measurement and control systems, which measure a number of aspects of paper on-line and influence the paper production process by means of control strategies and adjusting devices in such a way that an optimal quality is obtained with minimal production costs and with maximum output. As a Field Service Engineer you are responsible for maintenance, verification and troubleshooting of our frames, sensors, adjusters and overhead systems (DCS system, 800Xa). This involves both mechanical and electrical work as well as work in a software environment. In this position it is also your role to ensure good contact with the customer. This is at all levels, both with production, technical service, lab/quality service, as well as with management The customers are mainly paper mills. These are mainly located in the East of the country. The work can therefore take place under less favorable conditions, such as working under heat and noise and working near moving parts. Maintenance in Belgium can also take place occasionally. In addition, you may eventually be asked to support service jobs abroad.

Your responsibilities

  • Measurement and control engineering (tuning and optimization) and keeping the software up to date (both the Windows environment and the ABB application).
  • Performing inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance, including participation in standby services after the familiarisation period.
  • Assisting customers to achieve optimal performance from the systems.
  • Preparing recommendations, reports and migration projects.
  • Drafting, preparing and giving instructions.
  • Providing assistance in the commissioning of systems.
  • Providing technical support to the sales department.

Your background

  • You have an education in a technical direction.
  • A few years of practical experience is not an absolute necessity but it is an advantage.
  • You are able to approach situations analytically and you have the right communication and social skills, team spirit, and a customer- and result-oriented attitude without losing sight of commercial interests.
  • You are flexible regarding working hours, so no 9 to 5 mentality.
  • You are willing to work standby shifts.
  • You have a good command of the Dutch and English language in word and writing.
  • You are familiar with Office Software packages.
  • You are in possession of driving license B.
