Jump’s London office is the hub for managing Jump’s substantial United Kingdom, European and expanding Middle Eastern operations, which includes all aspects of Jump’s robust activities, including quantitative research and development, trading, trading and back office systems development, and venture and strategic investments. Working in the London office has the feel of a smaller company with the benefits of being an integral part of one of the world’s leading global quantitative trading firms. This role is a generalist position to serve the legal needs of our UK, European, and Israeli offices and interests. This role will join an established and collaborative global team of lawyers and paralegals on the legal side of the firm’s Legal & Compliance Department who serve the needs of the firm worldwide. No two days at Jump are ever the same, creating an intellectually stimulating, exciting, and fast-paced environment that enables the successful candidate to take initiative to learn and develop their skills constantly, while being mentored by senior team members. You will work actively with business units across the firm to advise on a broad range of legal issues, focusing on in-region legal matters. You will provide day-to-day advice, while working closely with the global legal team and compliance colleagues to manage legal risk and implement new business initiatives. Key areas of responsibility include employment-related legal matters, real estate lease review and negotiation, assisting on acquisitions, managing external counsel, and negotiation of both general and industry-specific contracts. The ultimate goal for the person in this role is to properly protect the firm while advancing the firm’s business interests effectively and efficiently. To succeed in this rule you must be a hands-on worker, analytical and intellectually curious, practical and resourceful, have sound judgment, take appropriate initiative, communicate clearly and succinctly, know when to escalate issues, and have excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships within and across offices and departments and with counterparties. What You'll Do: Serve as legal advisor on a wide variety of business initiatives and transactions with a focus on the UK and European region Review and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including technology contracts, commercial contracts, leases, trading-related agreements, and other vendor agreements Advise on employment related matters, including recruitment, performance management, terminations, restrictive covenants and data privacy, with a focus on UK and European law Manage outside counsel on various matters Participate in the development and implementation of corporate policies, procedures, and programs Assist in managing the corporate governance of our UK, European, and Israeli legal entities, including intercompany agreements Stay apprised of and advise the management team and global legal team on changes in in-region laws, rules and regulations affecting the firm Other duties as assigned or needed Skills You’ll Need: Qualified Solicitor or equivalent European legal qualifications At least three years of legal experience post qualification in private practice or an in-house team in the UK or a European jurisdiction Experience practicing in Europe is a strong advantage Fluency in a European language is a strong advantage Experience in UK or European employment law highly desired Working understanding and background in EU law highly desired Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail Excellent drafting skills Eagerness to contribute as an active and vital member of a dynamic global team Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment Secondment experience would be beneficial for candidates coming from private practice Reliable and predictable availability
