TowerPros is seeking technically competent Field Engineer/Tower Climber’s to build and maintain a sophisticated high performance wireless network in PA and NJ. Build new sites and maintain existing equipment on towers, rooftops, and other structures to company established standards that ensure consistent, best in class quality and reliability. Proactively communicate realistic timeline expectations around projects and tasks. Participate in on-the-job training to learn new skill sets and company established standards. Provide autonomous daily reporting on job progress and operational or maintenance issues to keep team well informed. Become subject matter expert to be on site technical resource for sub-contractors. Terminate / splice fiber using cutting edge equipment and techniques. Successful completion and passing score of all mandatory company certifications on an ongoing basis. Other duties as assigned or needed. Skills You’ll Need: At least 3+ years of experience in a similar role working with microwave technology; Any previous millimeter experience is a plus. Installation of steel structures to towers or other structures to facilitate the installation of telecommunications equipment and antennas. Microwave antenna & equipment installation, path alignment, and troubleshooting. Previous Tower Certification (Authorized Climber/Rescuer) required. Valid OSHA 10 certification preferred. Previous CPR/First aid training preferred. Experience with AC and DC power systems including wiring of single and poly-phase alternating current cables, direct current, negative grounded direct current, grounding, and breaker installation. Experience installing fiber optic cable. Experience troubleshooting fiber with OTDR and fusion splicing experience preferred. Experience with various sizes and types of coax cabling from 3/8 to 1”; Must be capable of cable termination with various connectors; Troubleshooting with Site master or similar equipment preferred. Experience using spectrum analyzer preferred. Basic networking knowledge, to include subnetting. Intermediate knowledge of RF theory / Signal flow. Intermediate knowledge of AC and DC power systems. Intermediate knowledge of fiber optics and cabling best practices. Must be comfortable with Microsoft Office applications and have intermediate to advanced general PC knowledge. Knowledge of various telecommunication termination / splicing, cable properties, and industry best practice preferred; Cable types to include hybrid, copper ethernet, fiber, coaxial, and power. Proven ability to maintain clean, safe, and orderly working environments. Safely operate all supporting equipment, including vehicles, and rigging equipment. Must be highly motivated and proactive. Ability to travel for an extended period in a vehicle and then perform duties once on site. Strong analytic and creative problem-solving abilities required. Willingness to take on and learn new tasks, as needed. Flexibility with regards to work priority changes. Reliable and predictable availability. Physical Requirements: Ability to competently climb all types of structures and towers up to 800 ft if required; Majority of towers climbed are between 150-400ft. Travel is 60% - 100%. - Deploy from home, must be able to park take-home work vehicle. PA operations are typically between State College in NJ along I-80. Will be requested to work in NJ between Carteret and Mahwah. Occasional travel outside of these areas will be required. Overnight stays will be required. Frequency is dependent on travel distance. Ability to work overtime, evenings, and on call required. Occasional weekend work is required as needed or as part of on-call. Willingness to work outside or inside in hot and cold weather conditions for long periods of time if required. Long haul driving, sometimes up to 10 hours in a work shift; Majority of driving is between 1- 4 hours. Required to be on feet/standing in one place 60% to 100% of the time. Required to lift/carry equipment and tools as follows: Over 150 lbs. – 1% of the time 75 – 150 lbs. – 5% of the time 25 to 75 lbs. – 50% of the time 1 to 25 lbs. – 90% of the time
