We're looking for a confident & resourceful Service Manager - Engineering (Duty Shift Engineer) or aspiring to be!  Required for our own Resort's Engineering Department. He/ She will assist Assistant Chief  Engineer and Director of Engineering to lead a local brigade of warm and experience technicians.

 

Job Summary

To be responsible to the Director of Engineering/Chief Engineer for the reliable operation of equipment and effective performance of all life safety systems within the property. Responsible for training of all hotel staff in life safety related issues to a level consistent with the needs relevant to their function in the hotel.

 

Core Competencies

 

  1. Responsible for Life Safety Equipment & Systems Operation, Maintenance & Testing including “log keeping books”/certification.
  2. Conducting Life Safety Training of all hotel staff to the appropriate level.
  3. Supervising hotel fire and smoke compartments, including all escape ways.
  4. Monitoring of hotel performance against the requirements of the SLIM Safety & Loss Manual, reporting deviations & recommending corrective measures needed.

 

Responsibility

 

  • LIFE SAFETY EQUIPMENT & SYSTEM TESTING.

Ensure effective maintenance and reliable operation of all life safety systems

  • LIFE SAFETY TRAINING

Ensure that all staff receive training that allows appropriated responses in the event of emergency situations.

  • FIRE & SMOKE COMPARTMENTATION

Ensure maintenance of the integrity of fire & smoke compartmentation.

  • SCAPE WAY

Ensure that fire stairs and escape ways are unobstructed and clear of flammable materials.

  • LOSS PREVENTION MANUAL

Ensure that standards identified in the manual are applied.

  • INTERFACING WITH SECURITY DEPARTMENT
  • NEW PROJECTS & ALTERATION WORKS
  • AUTHORITIES

Ensure a good working relationship with relevant authorities.

 

Requirement

 

  • Minimum 2 years of engineering's preventative maintenance and operations experience - preferably with hotel operational experience.
  • Posses Diploma or Profesional Certificate in Engineering - preferably in electrical (i.e.: Certififed electrician from Energy Commision of Malaysia - PW4, AO, & A4)
  • Excellent communication, organization and administrative & management skills.
  • Fluent in oral and written English and local dialects, Mandarin will be an advantage.
  • Computer literate [this includes – Microsoft Office (Words, Excel, Powerpoint, & Outlook)] and having the ability to learn and adapt new systems.
  • Sense of confidentiality.
  • Good leadership, self-motivated, mature, detail-minded, able to work independently and under pressure.
  • Able to work extended hours.
  • Sense of humour and common sense.
  • Due to strict local imigration policies, only Malaysian will be considered.
