Position Summary

The Behavior Management Therapist provides home and community-based behavior management and support to youth and families at risk. The Behavior Management Therapist will develop a specific behavior treatment plan that addresses the challenging behaviors of the youth in order to improve the youth and family functioning. They will work directly with the guardian to teach, model, and implement the behavior plan and collaborate with relevant stakeholders, advocating for the youth and family.

Education & Licensing Requirements

  • Master’s Level Practitioner AND: Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
  • OR Enrolled in a behavior analyst training program and eligible for certification within nine months; 
  • OR Master’s levels mental health practitioner working under the supervision of a BCBA; 
  • OR a psychologist licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Psychology with experience performing functional behavioral assessments and implementing and evaluating intervention strategies
  • OR a Master’s level mental health practitioner with relevant training and two years’ experience with the above essential functions.
  • OR -BCBA, LICSW, LMHC, LMFT, LCSW, or LADC-1
  • PC Literacy and experience with MS Office Applications

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides outreach to community providers to develop and foster solid working relationships and awareness of CBHI services. 
  • Ensure that documentation meets the Performance Specifications set forth by the state and is submitted timely 
  • Consult with other community-based resources such as state agencies, schools, medical and other mental health professionals, as necessary 
  • Complete a Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Management Plan individualized for the youth and family. 
  • Observe the youth/family in the home and community setting and engages the youth/family/stakeholders in structured interviews 
  • Work in tandem with a Behavior Management Monitor to implement the behavior plan established for the identified youth and family

Experience & Skills

  • Knowledge of Applied Behavioral Analysis or Positive Behavior Support principles required 
  • Familiarity with conducting Functional Behavior Assessments preferred 
  • Ability to create interventions/strategies to address maladaptive behaviors as noted in the Functional Behavior Assessment desirable 
  • Passion and commitment to helping the youth in our community 
  • Ability to evaluate progress from a qualitative and quantitative standpoint in an effective manner 
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
