Position description

The Quality Control Engineer will work under the direction of the Quality Manager. This position is responsible for the leadership and direction of the quality incentives, and the performance of all products manufactured at the Jonesburg facility to established standards. The Quality Control Engineer will leverage data science tools to achieve continual improvement in plant quality and process KPI’s. The Quality Control Engineer will lead/assist in quality planning activities, cost reduction initiatives, capital projects, and World Class Manufacturing. As such, the incumbent may perform other duties and responsibilities as required

Duties/Responsibilities:

Quality System Administration

  • Oversees and/or conducts raw material, product and process audits to ensure finished goods conform to specified requirements.
  • Manages the customer claims resolution and corrective action system.
  • Creates local documentation, such as quality manuals, procedures and work instructions.
  • Oversees and/or initiates the development of measurement tools that enable product and process evaluation.
  • Manages the acquired process data and owns the data acquisition tools and systems 

Risk Management

  • Proactively plans, controls and assures product and process quality in accordance with quality principles to eliminate potential sources of failure. This includes planning processes, material control, acceptance sampling and measurement systems.
  • Collaborates with R&D, Manufacturing and Marketing to ensure quality standards are integrated into new products and processes so production performance and output is to the standards required. Supports trials.

Continuous Improvement

  • Defines, monitors and analyzes quality Key Operating Indicators and coordinates the process of addressing deficiencies or deviations.
  • Provides root cause analysis and implements corrective actions for internal yield loss related to product defects, in collaboration with the plant operations team.
  • Presents findings and action plans to senior management to reach solutions that improve company

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Discipline
  • 3-5 years of experience in Quality Engineering, Process Engineering, and/or Production
  • Member of American Society of Quality/ASQ Certificate as Engineer, Auditor or Manager
  • Must possess the ability to; (1) understand new concepts quickly; (2) determine the appropriate approach; (3) organize, schedule and coordinate work; and (4) communicate results or progress effectively.
  • Experience in leading project teams in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Fundamental understanding of quality philosophies, principles, systems, methods, tools, standards, organizational and team dynamics, customer expectations and satisfaction, supplier relations and performance, leadership, training, interpersonal relationships, improvement systems and professional ethics.
  • Demonstrated experience and advanced knowledge of data collection systems and data analysis. 
  • Basic understanding of the audit process including types of audits, planning, preparation, execution, reporting results and follow-up.
  • Ability to develop and implement quality programs, including tracking, analyzing, reporting and problem solving.
  • A thorough understanding of problem-solving and quality improvement tools and techniques.
  • Strong Technical writing skills.
  • Proficient in statistical analysis of data with both Minitab and Excel. 
  • Self-motivated and hands-on.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Word, Access, Project and PowerPoint
